this is the kind of tutorial nobody should listen too. values without context make absolutely no sense. you just cant dial in some numbers with out knowing the gear or material you dealing with.
@@wirklich_niemand I literally explain why the levels are the way they are . No one should absolutely comment something like this until they actually try it 😂.
@@YTRS808 maybe that would have been a better question. What is on your mic chain at the input side? I have a preamp only but have considered an EQ or compressor.
@@HOTTETUNSIGNED yes absolutely. Vocal chains are pretty much standard. It’s personal opinion what comes first what exactly the vocal should sound like . Some people like no reverb some people like more it’s up to you . My template is just a starting point to tweak to your liking . I even advise you to replace my stock plugins with your own favorite so if you have a favorite composer you like replace my stock one with yours .
@@HOTTETUNSIGNED well you may have to tweak a little more I forget to say in the video and disclaimer that depending on your room and room treatmeant my template may sound different . I have a treated room so my template is based off a neutral sound (not a lot of effects) in a treated room.
@@YTRS808 i see .. maybe I’ll do a subtractive eq for problem frequency first .. but where in the chain?? Every track? or just on the vocal chain bus? The Template definitely works tho just have to tweak to my specs
so i used your template and first off the difference in my mix is incredible however, now my vocals sound like its right behind the neat. how would i bring it out a little more? is it an eq issue that i have to play with or is it something else?
Well if it sounds like it’s just a little too quite than yes you can turn up the vocals or turn down the beat , if it it sounds like the vocals are too thin or bass no matter how you turn it up then it’s EQ
Because a lot of my artist like to hear the effects live ,gives them an idea of how it’s going to sound instead of just recording it dry, and then they have to hear it afterwards with effects . Just saves time and makes work flow faster .
Can't wrap my head around why you don't have the amount of subscribers you really deserve. REALLY solid breakdowns and explanation. Straight to the point, not missing anything whilst giving/explaining the reasons what/why you are doing. One channel I found, I commented on their video for help; guy goes "if this video can't help you then I can't".
This is the best tutorial video I’ve watched. Well, explained, as well as taking your time && showing the levels. Everybody don’t wanna give out the whole sequence of what to do but you did && that helps artist like me
Do you know how I can remove unused mono impact xt channels from my mixer? I accidentally sent 2 samples to mono instead of stereo now I cant get rid of the extra channels on my mixer.. thanks!
There I was taking a bunch of notes and got to the end and you stated download is in the description hahaha THANKS BRO much needed! The templates I bought had too much going on and i wasnt even using half of the stuff on there much appreciated!!!
Ive been on youtube for 6 months an no one has ever talked about the wheel of fifths thanks for this! And for your other content as well it really helps!
You can't even get the volume right on your RU-vid video and you're dispensing mixing advice? I have all my volumes turned up (which I almost never have to do) and I can barely hear you! Fail!
Just some workflow hints... first, use patterns for drums and/or bassline. Secondo, use the arranger in Studio one. If you define hook, verse etc etc it is way easier to copy/editor song strutture without copy/paste
Ya If you have a better way than message me . The thing about these DAWs there 100 ways to do the same thing . I’m just showing what works for me and a fast work flow.
I've never seen anyone eq and compress without hearing the source material. You must know exactly how loud it is going to be and how the mic sounds in the room.
@@1loveMusic2003 your over thinking it just use your ears 😎 if it works for you it works if it doesn’t than it doesn’t I have over 20 producers that I know that still use my templates I’m their studio so …
I’m all for creating templates as I use them in other DAWs so thanks for showing how to create them and save them in Studio One (I’m moving over to this DAW) but why on earth would you set EQ levels before hearing the vocal tracks? Each vocal is different so I think it’s pointless to tweak the knobs beforehand.
It’s just a starting point where bass In the vocals are always going to sit and where we know annoying frequencies bands sit . There’s no such thing as a template you don’t have to tweak around your setup . Even myself, when I take my vocal template to other studios there’s always a little adjusting I have to have to do as well ,nothing major though .
@@donruga627 I think Rob's point was that most pro's don't use inserts for comp/eq/gate on vocals, they place those on the monitoring channel but record the vocals raw. This method allows you to hear the preferred chain (EQ'd, compressed, and gated, and any other efx you like) while recording takes, without committing to those tweaks, so if you later find you needed a syllable that the noise gate cut out, or the mix requires less compression on the vocals, you aren't screwed by decisions you burnt into the track on the initial recording.
Also, I plugged in some vocals I’ve been working on, and it cut out every time I used a “p” sound. Is there a way to adjust the gate or compressor so it takes away the pop sounds but still let’s it pronounce the “p” words? Or is this an issue with the actual recording?
If you are using Studio One 5 Artist Version. What's an alternative for Multiband Dynamics plug-in? What can I use in its place since the Artist version does not have it
There is no industry standard vocal template. Every singer and rapper is gonna be different. People record in different rooms with different mics and preamps. The way they process vocals maybe different than the way someone else process vocals. One template doesn’t fit everything.
Your absolutely correct on that as a template will never be that magic piece that everyone’s missing, but what a template does is it gives us a starting point because no matter the vocals there’s certain standard levels of plugins chains such as compression ratios and EQ levels such as scooping bass and adding a little boost in the mids to help punch the vocals through that we all do pretty standard , you should always tweak the template as needed whether it be subtracting or adding frequencies in the EQ or dialing in the threshold on the compressor or turning down or up reverb and delay . I have over 50 clients and I use the same vocal template but by the time I’m done tweaking the template around the artists voice you can never tell and every song still comes out different and unique .
thankyou so much. i need that. but how to do the simple? i have downloaded your template, but cant get into it in studio one. i did: download- drag it into template- open in studio one. it cant be seen there. I have st 6 is that a problem?
If you go to file > open session that should open it or if you go to the default template folder and insert it there so it will be under the installed templates PC: C:>Documents>Studio One>templates> MAC: Macintosh HD>User>Documents>Studio One>templates
Yo can u do a tutorial on how to tune 808 on fl I don’t really get it and I loops with the key and tempo provided but it never matches with my 808s even if I switch the key of my 808 to the melody it still sounds off and also I got good 808s so I know it’s not that
So I have saved this as a template.. could I erase my current vocals on a project and use this template in that? If so how? Thanks….or like if I made a beat how could I get this template into that session?
I just followed along and created this template. I have a couple thoughts. What is your approach to this template when recording 2 to 3 vocalists on one track who sound different? Just tweak as needed? How about chorus? Do you not use different fx for widening the chorus, etc? Also, if you add autotune, where do you place it? A separate bus or on each track?
So this is really just a starting point . For multiple vocalist you would just duplicate tracks you need than if they have a whole different tone add a EQ to the actual track and either add or subtract the frequencies desired. Also auto tune would go on the actual tracks as you may have one of the artist that needs a lil more or less than the other so no don’t bus auto tune . For wider chorus I would just put the desired effects on the actual track . Trick for that chorus tho it’s just have them double the chorus and then mix it in so it has a lil wider sound .
