Unlucky Collard Dove, great footage the female Sparrowhawk is dining like a king tonight. The wife needs educating on the circle of life and natural selection.
The fact that you video that dove's suffering and agony says a lot about you. Don't use usual excuse "it is nature". You videod it, so clearly you are a waste of oxygen. Maybe one day you will experience such agony and suffering🤞
I wouldn’t worry too much . Pigeons and doves breed like gremlins and are vermin like so numbers are excessive anyway. However I wouldn’t be having that in my garden. What a mess! I’d be running that carnage out !
A Sparrow Hawk goes strait to ripping out feathers once its caught its prey. I was lucky enough to see a Red Tailed Hawk get a dove once. It was setting on a 4 ft chain link fence then next time I looked it had fled and got about 30ft before the hawk caught it and took it to the ground. The Hawk held it a about 30 seconds and flew about 40 feet farther from me and landed on the ground and started ripping out feathers with its eyes still fully open. Its kind of terrible to see but it is natures way I guess.
They don't kill their prey. They eat them alive. Hawks need culling. They are so common now that they are not only killing many native bird species, they are also killing, & ruining the sport of pigeon racing, and killing 1,000s of fancy domesticated pigeons daily.
It's nature, why aren't I stopped from eating meat? Why don't many people protest against slaughter houses? Why aren't we all herbivores? Predators keep the population of their prey in check, and prevents it from causing serious problems that come with overpopulation of one species.
Nice. That's a collard dove btw. I've only seen this happen once and it was right outside my window. the sparrow hawk was killing a wood pigeon right in front of me.
