Thanks for your question! We faced some issues with the previous model being stuck in the front fender. So we redesigned the upfront part of the skid plate to avoid any problem with it 😊

Bonjour, Il y a deux sabots disponibles pour la Desert X, le premier est compatible avec les crash bars Hepco&Becker: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CPWHD0saPys.html Le second avec les crash bars SW Motech: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YbK2VFYckjM.html Dans les deux cas, il n'y a pas de gêne au niveau de la pompe à eau. Pour tout les autres crash bars nous n'avons pas testé directement et nous ne pouvons donc rien garantir 😉
Hello, On the right side, you'll need to cut the spacers supplied by SW to make them compatible with the skid plate. And to answer your question, you need to install the skid plate, then the crash bars. Je suis entrain de monter une Tenere 700 world rally pour se voyage et je veut votre skid plate pour ca reputation, mais aussi les crash bar de chez outback motortek? hello, i have a question, if I buy only the skid plate, is it compatible with the OEM crash bars? the front side of the skid plate fixes on your crash bars. Will i be able to fix the front plate from the skid plate without your crashbars using the ducati ones? Thanks, best regards 👍👍
Hi Pedro, we do not manufacture the crash bars but only the skid plate. To give eyou an answer, by fitting this one www.axp-racing.com/en/product/skid-plate-ducati-desert-x-2022-2023-to-fit-hepco-becker-crash-bars-black-ax1689 with OEM Ducati crash bars, there will be only a small contact, not a big deal. the best is to use hepco and becker crash bars with this one. If you order this one www.axp-racing.com/en/product/skid-plate-ducati-desert-x-2022-2023-to-fit-sw-motech-crash-bars-black-ax1679 with Ducati crash bars, you will have to cut the top part of the skid plate. The best still to use the SW Motech crash bars for this one. Feel free to send an e-mail for more info and pictures ;)
Trying to fit this with my SW MOTECH CRASH BARS that it says are compatible but can’t see how this is going to work? The steel AXP bracket is flush fitting. How will that mount to the same mounting point as the SW Motech crash bars with the perfectly machined spacer that SW Motech supply with the bars that fits into the recess engine mounting point?? You works basically have to supply 2 correct sized spacers that fit 1 behind the bracket and 1 correctly sized spacer in front of the steel bracket to allow the bracket to fit correctly. We agree that this fitment can be improved and we'll do at the first chance. Actually, this skid plate has been sold at +1500 units in 2023 and represents 97% of satisfied customers. It can be better yes but still good enough =)

Ordered the touring skid plate before viewing this video. I’ll be returning the touring skid plate in exchange the Hard skid plate. My mistake for not watching the install videos first. I do not want to attach a skid plate to the engine case or give up ground clearance/add the additional weight of a center stand.
On this new version, the welds have been modified and reinforced. However, we cannot certify that the welds won’t break, it depends a lot on the impact. In this case, the aim of the skid plate is to protect the fuel tank 😉

We did not tried it ourselves, but one of our customers combined the skid plate with the crosspro crash bars, we can send pictures of the assembly if needed. Thanks and have a great day !
Un enfer à monter, la notice est vraiment à travailler.. 40min a galèrer, même si le résultat en vaut le coup ! Quel enfer de tout devoir deviner, je commençais à me demander si il y avait pas eu une erreur pour la visserie 🙄
Bonjour. La notice indique clairement chaque référence de vis et il est précisé à chaque étape lesquelles utiliser. La notice est également accessible en ligne en couleur si besoin sur la page produit du sabot ainsi que la vidéo tuto.
Nearly $400 skid plate and we have to cut out the foam ourselves? And really any of the hardware that doesn't need to be compacted for shipping should be installed as well
Regarding the screws and bolts, we don’t know any brand that sells pre-assembled skid plates, no matter the price. And, it is clearly shown in all our videos that customers have to cut the foam themselves. The aim is for the customers to choose whether to stick the foam on the inside of the skid plate or directly on the tank; this way, we can satisfy (almost) everyone. Thank you.
I have installed mine on my 2021 KTM 890 Adventure S that has the KTM OEM center stand on it. I did not have to remove the center stand for the installation. I was able to do the install with the bike on the side stand with a bit more care. There were no glitches. It went very well with no bits or pieces left over. It does not interfere with anything on the bike during or after the installation. I am extremely impressed with how well this thing was put together and how clean the installation went. The installation document that came with the skid plate is thorough and easy to understand. I did watch the installation video a few times and it helped a great deal. Kudos to AXP. This is just what I wanted.

You have the GEN 1 and this video is about GEN2 which take in count the drawbacks of the GEN1 to transform in advantage on GEN2. As you haveGEN1, thank you to not have a garbage reaction on a different product you didn't use and offer us a bit of your patience, you're not alone and you'll have an answer + solution like all customers :)
@@Revvedupadventureclub There are two types of V2 skid plates: HARD and TOURING. The touring version is compatible with the KTM center stand and the hard version is not. So they have 2 different fixation systems. If you don’t have the same brackets, it maybe is because you ordered the touring version instead of the hard one. I really like your product but I never had so much trouble installing a skid plate. The front part with trying to align holes was a real pain in ……. Had to find longer bolt that i had that fit and get that bracket to align correctly. Im sure there is a easier way. Really good product, always had AXP skid plate on my bikes but this one is a real pain to install 🤷🏻♂️

Hello, Thanks for your question. As you can see on the video, we don’t use the fixation points that are used by the KTM center stand. So you need to fix the center stand first and then you can add the skid plate using the aluminum fixations that are included in the box.
Brilliant. Having lived through paddling whitewater rivers in the days of alumnum canoes, I know first hand how much better plastic boats will slide over rocks. My question is how well will this skid plate work with aftermarket header pipes, such as the Akrapovic system?

I have very positive experience with AXP skid plates. Had one on my former Husqvarna701E for 14.000km of offroad, mainly TET. Now AXP fitted to my KTM500EXCF for more offroad riding, already 7.000km. Lots of scratches and scars underneath assess how efficient they are. I used to have an aluminum skid plate on an AfricaTwin CRF1000L : great advantage to the AXP: lighter, resist to knocks without permanent deformation, dampens engine noise resonance and stones hits. I do recommend AXP skid plates, well engineered, easy to fit 👍
I'm so happy I've just found a non alloy bash plate for my new Tuareg. My only suggestion is could you mark in some way the plate ( or colour code the bolts or cap screws) to identify what fasteners have to be undone to remove the bashplate for an oil change? It seems there are a lot that don't need to be undone. I can see my service guy undoing them all as he won't know how it is constructed and attached.
