Uhh use to live there? When was the last time you visited? We koved to Edmond for 8 years and moved back to Tulsa recently,or tried tp but ended up closer to Wagoner. It broke my heart driving through Tulsa. I still avoid it when possible. Sure,You could visit all the places, neighborhoods,restaurants,shops that use to thrive that have now become rife with crime and poverty due to the Opiod Epidemic and the people they voted into Office who steal from them (Like Governor Kevin Stitt) or the pathetic underperforming school systems because of the voted and hired Superintendents ( Like Ryan Walters) Tulsa is a Ghost of its former self. Skip it. Drive right through it to OKC. Want to see what a city that fully embraced "Trumpism" ? There you have it folks! *Tulsa* Be afraid...Be very afraid.
I personally hate social media management lol I'm so bad at it. I agree with you, if you have a skill, you can offer it as a VA. One thing I dislike is that clients think a VA is going to do it all. I think, if you're going to niche down, definitely let that be known early on in the client communication.

This is the 2nd video of your content I'm watching. You just gained a new subscriber. I came here because I needed inspiration from a fellow VA so in search you video came up. The end of today marks 2 years holding a job as a VA for a client. I have always thought of quitting but then I remind myself that if i quit, I'll be broke because I'm still trying to get a 2nd stable job. Maybe i should go back to my RU-vid and channel my creativity there. That in itself is another challenge because i know how demanding it is. I came across Abbey. Agree, I see these high ticket courses and it's scary to be charged $100 a month for 12 months when you are a newbie. I think 6 mos would be more reasonable. I think her FB griup is now closed to paid members. I tried joining it. Trying to decide if I should go out there alone & piece it together like you did. Sounds like it's hard to make lucrative money. Thank you for this reality. May be why these courses to train us are 1k-2k a pop.
I love your channel. I am an independent contractor so I have to pay taxes. What helped me is using free tax usa when I file my taxes. I do my bookkeeping on a spreadsheet. It is normal to have a learning curve the first year. Just keep getting better with keeping up on the books. I do mines weekly.
Please charge more for your services. You are underselling yourself big time. I live in Portugal and charge 25-30 euros an hour for any kind of web work. In the U.S. the rate would easily be four times that, especially if you’re living in a big city. Yes freelancing can be an exhausting hustle, but you can make good money if you value your work. 10 years ago I was charging $500 a day for any non-commercial photography work. The going rate then was $1,000 a day minimum for commercial work. I left that world but am sure the rates are much much higher. The more you sell yourself short the more it hurts all of us out here too. Just keep going, get more skills, and jack up your prices.
Hi Faith, I wanted to ask you some questions about being a virtual assistant. I'm researching it- i have never been a VA before but am tech savy and have experience with customer service and inbound and outbound calls. Is your course beginner friendly? And if I'd be doing work under my own name would I have to be licensed/certified as an actual business?
You really don't need prior VA experience to become a VA -- just experience in general doing something. That can translate towards becoming a VA. There are definitely customer service jobs out there and VA customer service types. My course goes into the specifics on how to start a virtual assistant business, not necessarily into customer service, marketing skills, etc. It's really about the business side and how to find clients and onboard them. VA skills vary greatly! You can do so much and that's why I didn't specifically share those in the course. It's best practice to start an official business and that doesn't have to cost money if that's what you're worried about. Getting registered with the IRS is free.
This is a great honest look at the reality of being a virtual assistant. While there are opportunities to earn, it takes time, hustle, and you need to be prepared for the costs of running a business.
