Definitely push for 500 flights. If you smash it up u can glue it up and STILL retire it with full military honours. Sticking (see what I did there?) with the combat theme, do I detect just a soupcon of Purcell Civil War here? I shall adjudicate. Hear, hear. The judgement is as follows; if this is Hat Wars, then El Capitan STILL wins, I'm afraid, even if he IS somewhat of a back seat Capitan on occasion. It may well be that the servos and poss ESC are getting a bit Joe Bideny, so, with the mitigation of 301 flights done then Gina wins the war in the air. I like to follow Petrincic Bros R.C Channel, they are fun, expert (pro manufacturing engineers) and you get the odd slice of Slovenian culture, and these boys LOVE E Flite (occasionally to bits😂) so this just shows what great planes this company really does produce.. That's pretty special to still have the original plane that you learned to fly with . . . and to have a log of all of your flights on it. I never logged my flights when I flew the old model fuel burning planes. But - when I got going with electrics I started logging - mostly because I was trying to keep track of how my batteries were doing. Then, once I got started - I couldn't hardly stop the practice. Your Cub looked good using your runway. And the flying was fun too !

Hi Gina, Ummm, did the ground move??😂😂 You were lucky you didn't tear the landing gear out, but, you were flying slow enough to get away with it. Three hundred flights is very impressive and she's obviously a firm favourite to get flown that much. The take off was good and it got airborne quicker than I expected, probably as the make of your little J3 Cub is unfamiliar to me, or I didn't hear what the make was, but she flies a treat, and is pretty fast when you apply the power. I have four Cubs, a Parkzone J3 Cub, a bigger J3 Cub whose make escapes me but it did come with a basic TX and flies on a 3s 2200ma Lipo, a big E-flite Super Cub which is a rare wood and balsa version flying on a 4s 3300ma Lipo and a similar size J3 Cub, wood and balsa that currently has a .60 fourstroke engine up front. All are very good flyers. Your Cub flies well, even if your husband wasn't too happy about having to duck when you flew over the top of him.😁😁😁 A good flight and a good landing. Now, you have 301 flights with her. To me, if you like it that much and flies well, keep it going as long as you can. I've had several favourite models over the years which I've enjoyed flying. One in particular was an old Pilot ARF series RF Ace 40L, a low wing sports plane with an OS .45FSR two stroke motor up front. This was pre electric days and that got flown that much that I had to recover it as the factory covering had deteriorated that much and then the tyres finally had no treat left and had split down the middle. I had to finally throw it into the bin as it got so oil soaked in the front and around the centre of the wing in the exhaust side that the glue wasn't doing anything. I must have had it for about 10 years, so, I got my money's worth. Just brought myself an E-flite UMX Waco biplane, to compliment the bigger Dynam Waco. Hope to fly it sometime next week now that I've paid my club fees. Have fun and catch up next video. Lee.

I flew the snot out of the J-3 for most of 2019 as I only owned three models at the time that could be flown (others were sitting in their boxes for when I was ready, including the mighty E-flite Spitfire XIV). Hi Gazza! Ahh... if only I was trying to land when I crashed! Nope! It was a low pass that became subterranean 😆 I've found that these HK warbirds are incredibly useful for stripping down for parts for balsa builds. I fly my HKs less than I use to do. I had an entire HK Hurricane's worth of electronics that went into the Tony Nijhuis Moskito, and prior to that, an entire HK Corsair's electronics went into the Tony Nijhuis Mosquito. Maybe this current HK Hurri might have the same fate? Hmmmm... There's only one way to beat the non-flying blues and that's to get out and just do it with a 'beater' aircraft, but as you say, the weather here in the UK is utter, utter, utter pants right now.

Hi Gina, Hmm, not a particularly nice Hurricane, is it? I think some of the problem might be that it could be a bit nose heavy, as the other contributor mentioned, and also, I think it's that horrible Futaba radio which isn't helping, either. I've got a Hobbyking Hurricane as well, brought some years ago, but, it's completely different to yours. Mine has the olive drab/dark earth camo in the top and sides of the fuselage and the duck egg green on the underside. It has retracts but no flaps. It runs on a 3s 1800 ma Lipo, but sometimes I've managed to just squeeze in a 2200ma 3s Lipo. It does fly quite well and lands quite well, but, the retracts have a peculiar trait in them. Although they are electric and function, they won't retract until you pull the power back, and, they won't extend until you do the same. They are acting as if the airspeed is affecting them. My thought is that the speedy might need to be swapped out for bigger amps. I think then that problem will go away. The paint application from the factory wasn't very good, either. After many flights for the first couple of years of flying it, the paint has gradually flaked off in parts and now the poor old girl looks very war weary, the only scale realism I've got without doing anything!😁😁 She hasn't flown for many years now as I've got better Warbirds, including a better and bigger Hurricane, so she sits near my TV on static display. You mentioned you have the Hobbyking Lancaster. I've got the very first release of it, which is far better than the later versions, in that, it has retracts with sequenced doors and functioning bomb bay doors. It did lack rudders and had two counter rotating props. I modified mine to have working rudders and got four new correct props, which also had the correct later paddle style prop blades, the ones supplied were needle type which were on the early MKI Lancasters and Lancaster PA474 has the later prop blades, which is what mine is modelled on. Anyhow, are you going to worry about that Hurricane anymore, or will she become a hanger queen? Oh, I've just realised what the problem is on your Hurricane! It's the incorrect cannons!😂😂😂 They are in the wrong spot and should be poking out of the inboard red patch on the wings! I'm only kidding, Gina! 😁😁😁 Look forward to the next video. Lee.
@purcellrcaviationchannel
@purcellrcaviationchannel 2 дня назад
G'day, Lee! Yes, you're not wrong... it's not a great Hurricane model. I think it's not helped by having a very scale wing shape for its small size which gives it a high loading. It always needs a lot of speed to remain up; ease back the throttle and it drops like a stone. Between you, me and the gatepost, that model's future is looking uncertain... shall we say... 🤨

Hi Gina, Don't think Ground effect had much to do with it, as you say in your text on the video it creates a cushion of air under the aircraft, but it would do little for the small Hurricane, Having watched the video a few times and the crash in skow mo...I think it came in steep and with some speed, one or both of the tanks got grabbed by the grass...end off.. it could be a tad nose heavy, or the tanks are creating a lot of drag. Have you flown in without the tanks to see if it makes any difference ?? Good repair, and as you say it is always nice to see an aircraft fly again after a crash, and I should know I have plenty of experience repairing Bin Bag Birds..lol.....keep ummm flying...

I think you let the cat out of the bag about this Corsair being one of your favorite models. I agree! I enjoy the view of a Spitfire's wing carving through the sky - but I also think a Corsair looks pretty darn good too! You commented about flaps on take off. For myself, I usually use partial flaps. They can take off either way, but I think it gives a bit more lift to help avoid a stall as it climbs out. And I think it seems a bit more scale like. The carrier deck was so short that a full size Corsair certainly needed flaps to get air born. You sure made it look good cruising around your air space. I liked your rolls etc. I enjoy the way my Corsair rolls a bit more than some of my other planes. I tend to nudge a wee bit of down elevator as it rolls inverted, and it seems to go through that so smoothly and look so good doing it. And your landing. That was a really beautiful, scale like approach to your 'carrier deck' for that great landing. Way to go Gina ! 'Hippo' - really ? - Nope Nope Nope !

Hi JR! Apols to the world's Corsair fans (and I'm one!) for the poor 'Hippo doing ballet' analogy 😄😄😄 I've had so many failed take off attempts before the concrete runway, using take off flaps, only for the model to nose over within a few feet. I'm in a phase of leaving flaps up at the moment... but it will only take one instance of running out of runway at full speed to cure me of it 😆

Hi Gina, Well, another great flight with your F4U-4 Corsair. The gull wing gives them character and, yes they fly very well indeed. As I mentioned before, all the Corsairs I have fly extremely well, can't fault them, and that's right down to the little park fly version. Your take off is getting better, still need to hang onto right rudder a bit more, but, as you say, it's taking a bit of time to get it right. The landing approach was pretty much spot on, and the landing again waa good. You nearly tipped it up on it's nose! Probably the heaviest foamy I have is a Grumman Tigercat, twin engined of course. It's heavier than my real big Corsair and it "feels heavy" while flying it. Well done. I went to a jet meet today, and there was a mixture of EDF jets and proper model jet turbine powered jets, and these have got performance that you wouldn't believe! They drink the fuel too! It was the most jets I've seen in one place ever. Those turbine powered jets are very expensive, several thousand dollars each. I forget to pull that gear up sometimes also, does not make me a dummy🖖 Your right the F4U Corsairs do fly great and even better inverted due to the gull wing design .Your landing was very good and do not be too critical about rolling off the hard top toward the end. Its very hard to keep the tail planted hard enough to keep positive traction on the rear wheel to keep it strait. On grass landings it is a typical tail dragger. Great video and enjoyed watching PRCA in action,

These ASW arrive far too nose heavy. I flew mine without the pilot figure and fitted the battery in between the wing spar spaces. That made it marginally good for the CG, and improved the flight glide capability. The model is a 'motor' 'Glider'. More emphasis on the glider once you get the CG right. Also, it's a good idea to tape the edge of the canopy before it snaps. For some reason the plastic is quite brittle, and the canopy is prone to cracking around the pins that lock down the canopy to the fuse. Do you have a 7 plus channel Tx? I think Soren has an excellent video where he provides all the flight settings for crow, reflex and the whole nine yards of setting up a full flap glider config.

Hi, Jo! How far out are the CG moulding marks on the wing? It was confusing the kerrapp out of me in the air! At one point in the flight you hear me fiddling with the elevator trim, and because my right hand was off the stick, the ASW was automatically on a mission to nose first into the ground. Thanks for the tip about the canopy ☺☺ ...and the other stuff about crows which is way above my gliding pay grade and my Tx channel count as well 😄😄

I'm not surprised you snapped this up! A real snip for a 2m+ glider like this Volantex, which is good enough to justify the entry fee at full price by t'looks. Nice one Gina! 🌟👍

@@purcellrcaviationchannel I got the phoenix 2400 last year for $50. Someone had put it together (badly) but never flown it. Same swap meet is coming up in two weeks. Maybe I'll get lucky again. I fly the phoenix on a 4S Li-Ion all the way back. gets the weight back nicely, keeps it light, and has PLENTY of power.

it really is a nice looking bird - I like the red tips .....I said TIPS... That's for youtube in case the algorithm has a fit ... Nice sky, Nice glider, Nice Pilot, NICE ;-), yer it did come down fast - they are fun to glide them across the fields and the grass - I am sure once the nose heavy issue has been addressed it will do just that..
