As soon as I heard you were recording during tuesday's game, i was anticipating your reaction to McArthur's blown save. Pretty heartbreaking, but glad he and the team bounced back. Vinnie's postgame comments also were very touching.
Before the season I felt that if MJ could have a nice offensive year, like a .780 OPS, we could over achieve. I didn’t expect so many contributors but let’s keep it rollin. Great stuff as always guys, even without Joel.
He's recovering from tommy john surgery he should return by Late June/Early July he'll probably replace lyles in the rotation cause I don't see lyles having a bounce back season
As a KC transplant in San Diego, I am incredibly proud that my adopted city continually rejected giving a billionaire tax handouts even though the city eventually lost the Chargers. I hope Kansas City doesn't finance a stadium for an owner who could pay cash for the whole thing.
Yes they should change. This division is very winnable. We're better than the White Sox and Indians, Twins are taking a step back from not exactly being world beaters last year. Tigers are improved, though. Not calling a division championship but at least competing for it into September. That "pitching staff" if you can call it that had to have been responsible for probably 107 of the 106 losses
Royals are doing what they said they were going to do, great to see. Cherry on top would be extending that man. Reminds me of the mid 2010s, is this our 2013-14?
Happy about the Kyle Wright trade, cause Jackson Kowar like most of the pitchers from that draft was a bust. Atlanta Braves fans are not happy which I like! The Taylor Clarke and Taylor signings, like you all probably a decent signing for the money and their role on the team next year. I would like to see Porter get another shot in the majors this coming up year. I disagree about Edward Olivares, yeah his fielding is not good but he has pop(.452 SLG). Happy with the Nick Anderson signing. Thanks as always for the great insight.
Not sure if it was mentioned since I took an afternoon nap.... Dairon Blanco had a pretty good year for a 4th or 5th outfielder. Ideal bench player with his elite speed, decent defense, and not feckless at the plate.
Fist off, Josh. You are a delight. I was in pain for you. Might be my favorite moment of the season. That being said, the "experts" are all giving our trades D/F grades and our draft D/F grades. I don't think that when you mix that with the record it's wise to talk down to the fanbase for being angry. Firing JJ after this season might be the wrong move. I don't think he's dumb. I just know that this problem requires a person who is smarter than most GMs to solve. I'm not furious or mad. But I totally validate anyone who is furious if they've wasted time on this team this year and plan to for years to come.
Appreciate those kind words and glad you enjoyed it. I learned a lesson. 😂 Yeah I don’t want our optimism to come off as a lack of disappointment. We’re disappointed and angry too, but choosing to focus on the positivity. Our heads aren’t buried in the sand, but we’re choosing to be the cooler heads when we can, which doesn’t always happen either. Personally I agree with you that it’s gonna take some big brains and a little luck to get the org outta this hole. I just think there are things changing behind the scenes that are encouraging and could get things right. Buuuuut I am wrong all the time! 😂 Maybe this regime is the right sauce, maybe not, but I think they still deserve the benefit of the doubt (for now). We appreciate you hanging with us though and I truly do appreciate the kindness you gave me.
According to you guys, every move makes sense, the team is full of stars, and nothing should change. Yet theyre 50 games under. How is that possibke if everything they do is right and smart?
The record is the record. Obviously things are bad and we’ve said it when something’s bad. But we also don’t want to dwell on it either. Trying to stay in the middle if not lean a bit positive.
Sure, IMO I don’t think we’ve seen enough to say that. He’s won some (Aroldis sign and flip) and he’s lost some (Lyles contract). I don’t think he should be blamed entirely for the record. He has some responsibility, but not even close to all of it.
I get "calm down" but at the same time we're mostly influenced by podcasts on "what needs to be done for this year to be a success" .... and the Royals aren't meeting any of those expectations. It almost feels like there's not a ton of conviction with statements from the media , or they just are kinda soft with this stuff and don't feel like anything can happen to change the Royals so we might as well be happy.
I think things can change but it’s not all doom/gloom either. There’s some encouraging things to go with the bad things for sure, just hard to see them all the time or even WANT to.
@@joshkeiser6308 I just feel like people who work on these shows should realize that they set expectations for the season to casual fans (like me) and then they act astonished that when they fail at stuff (like trade Barlow for a Top 100 prospect) they act smug at fans who are mad that they didn't meet expectations. Jordan's smugness specifically is a huge turnoff to me. I'm not on Twitter so maybe people are attacking you there, but I know that fans on RU-vid aren't very happy and it seems understandable? Luckily we're winning.
@@collectandrun9386I hear you. And I tried to set low expectations for returns for that reason, as well as, wanting to feel pleasantly surprised about a return myself too. A lot of other shows were setting way too high of expectations for returns IMO, and thus when they don’t get that return, they’re disappointed/angry and lash out with bad grades. Throw that in with a really bad record on the field and people get super mad, which I understand as well. Other shows were calling for a complete tear down and restart that included execs, scouts, and most of the major league team. And I truly believe that that isn’t completely required (yet), that’s all. But we truly, truly appreciate you watching despite this brutal year. Hope you stick with us as we hit the “Dark Ages” ahead. 😂
The offense sucks, they have absolutely terrible sequencing with RISP like we’ll get two on 0 outs and get no runs out of it. The bullpen is also atrocious. I think as of July 18 the royals have blown 16 leads by the bullpen so far.
IDK Gentlemen, I believe they could be one of the worst six ever teams. They cannot hit, pitch and at times, they make blunders in the field and on the base paths. Hopefully, things will turn around to make you feel optimistic in 2024, but if I was John Sherman I would blow up the whole thing. Even thought he fired Dayton Moore, but kept his chief lieutenant in J.J. Picollo.
Cade Denton 2nd round steal 6’4” 205 RHP Touches 100. 18 to 24 inch movement on his fastball, Great slider bottom falls out. Watch what he did in the college World Series stopper of the year.
