So the perception filter doesn’t make you not see something. It just makes that thing feel like the kind of thing you see in the corner of your eye that you don’t really notice. But if someone points that thing out to you and you’re forced to notice it, you can’t un-notice it.
Said it before, and I'll say it again. Shoving Koby and Garp in every episode meant we didn't get any connection to the strawhats. There is no clear character motivation for them. I have a tough time believing it would be a good show without prior knowledge, however prior knowledge just makes you want to read the manga.

This is a highlight episode for me, always great when they do a historic episode..And Tennant gets to really go for it. You start to get a glimpse of the Doctor that he could become if he didn't have his "Companions " to keep him in Check..You begin to see another side to him, but then you think about how much he has witnessed and the actions that he took previously were they the right ones..it let's you see a lot more of what's going on with him..He's going to become one of your favourites 😉🇬🇧
7:41 it's not unusual; everyone is different. i pretty much have continuous memory from somewhere around when i had language; the earliest clear timestamp is the evening of september 1st from when i was two, but context indicates i have plenty of memories from before then. 🤷🏻♀️ rather, what gives me genuine trouble is the couple of decades before 2020, much of which is just blank for me.
I absolutely love your Doctor Who reaction videos. They're brilliant. It is such a pleasure watching you discover this show. Your videos are like a shot of joy. Thank you so much. Brilliant work.
Fun fact: the look of the Abzorbaloff was actually designed by a kid for a 'Design a Dr Who Monster' competition on Blue Peter (a British kids TV show).
Little easter egg for UK Whovians (or Dr Who nerds in general). Back when this aired in 2006, Doctor Who had a behind-the-scenes show for kids called Totally Doctor Who. In one of the eps, the presenter was an extra for the day and he appears at a market stall on the right wearing a beanie at 16:08. Barney Harwood, for those who remember him from the '00s CBBC days.
The running back and forth through doors thing is a frickin' Scooby Doo reference, but what really disturbs me is that the episode ends with an immortal face in a slab of concrete. I assume she'd have to spit, but she's talking without lungs, so who bloody knows. Behind the scenes, I was disappointed that she was just doing Moaning Myrtle from the HP films again. They do this bystander POV kinda thing better, later on. Much better.
Location info: Linda met in the basement of Jacob's market by Cardiff Central Station. Elton's childhood home was on Heol Pentwyn in the Whitchurch area of Cardiff. The monster in the opening was at Cardiff Docks.
An episode set around normal people getting caught up in the Doctor's antics isn't an inherently bad idea (as a certain universally loved episode in the following season goes on to demonstrate), but the execution here is pretty awful. It's still one of my least favourite episodes of NuWho, 12 seasons later.
These episodes are known as "doctor light" and occur when they need to film two episodes at once, so one episode has to be a story that doesn't involve the Doctor. there are a few of these in the first few series and even in the latest season with 73 Yards. They always offer great stories and build the world even further.
People really hate on this episode, I've personally always enjoyed it as a silly change of pace that also does a good job showing the impact the Doctor has on us mere earthlings. Despite the aliens, the show at it's heart is about people.
I actually love this episode until they reveal Ursula was saved. It's not my favorite alien, but I appreciate that he was designed by a child. It also lightened things up a little bit. The tragedy of the ending was actually powerful. I felt like they only saved her for a dumb sex joke, which just took away from the depth of the story.
Ok this Episode was one of those ..."You okay?"-Episodes 😂 😂 Some people think it's sitll ok after al lthe monster was invented by a child back in the day (I wonder how old they'd be today) and others absolotuley didn't like it and I think it has t he "filler Ep" vibe but like, I don't mind a break after something like the Satan Pit. The show flows in waves after all. But be careful what you wish for they've a thing to go "You rwish is my command but also not really " 😂 😂 Every now and then you'll find a few Episodes in a season that's like "Hate it or love it" but by then you just got so used to their ish you just "go with it!"
I'm afraid I have to beg to differ with the comparison between Bliss and Mrs Hannigan nee Buffay. If Bliss were of that ilk, the sculpture she made would have been climbing out of a frame hanging on a wall somewhere, likely scaring the crap out of its owner. :D Also, and my apologies if this ahs already been mentioned, but the actress who played Ursula, Shirley Henderson, is better known to many as Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies. Lastly, you have to love that Davies decided the logical name for the sister planet of Raxacoricofallapatorius was Klom. Comedy gold right there.
As i been saying in the last several comments the TARDIS is not a perception filter its a ship that changes it shape that's it people can still see the TARDIS (The Police Telephone Box) which is stick in that shape because of the chamelion circuit broke down people can still see the TARDIS the statement of being a perception filter is misunderstood.
Dr. Who is not a fantasy show it's a science fiction show it always was whenever there is fantasy or magic going on there was always a scientific explanation for it which always turned out to be an alien source or some form of technobabble. Which is why it's ashame you started the show from what I consider and most people (real fans) the worst era of Dr. Who it only became a complete fantasy show when Disney took over and RTD returned who had completely ran out of ideas at that point when we got to the Ncuti Gatwa era so he created fantasy into the show so he doesn't have to explain stuff which I consider just lazy writing and has made the show into something it's not. This was at a time when the show was creative this episode and the next one are the only times this era wasn't so good.
This episode has it's fans but it's considered as one of the worst episodes of Dr. Who. If I was in Ursula's shoes think I would rather be dead than live as a concrete slab for the rest of my life that ending was just weird the Doctor should had left her be. The absorboloff was created by a 9 year old boy who entered "the creating your own monster competition" on a kid's show called "Blue Peter" this won and came to life on the television screen.
Can you list TV shows and movies with POV camera or narration? "Malcolm in the Middle" (TV sitcom) - Malcolm "Dragnet" (crime drama) - narration at beginning and end "Blair Witch Project" (horror movie - have never seen but am aware of it) "Cloverfield" (monster movie)
