We all wanted to hate the Captain's fiancee, but we just can't. For me I felt bad for her. Imagine the person you're about to marry, but turns out they're in love with someone else.
I think this is my favourite scene in all of Hollywood! This is the very definition of romantic and delicate Sensuality, my heart melts every time I see that scene.
I love how the songs being played are a mix between Something Good, Favorite Things, and Edelweiss which are song that the Captain and Maria sang which indicates that he is thinking him and Maria
The most endearing part of the scene first me is when he kisses her for the first time and then gently and tenderly kisses her forehead. Shows how he respects her.
And he leans in very slowly and gently, making his intentions perfectly clear and giving her more than enough time to pull away if this isn’t what she wants.
I've always loved this scene. I like the way the Captain gently urges Maria to sit, hoping to put her at ease, while simultaneously becoming a bundle of nerves himself as he tries to gauge the situation and confirm whether she feels the same way he does. Maria still thinks he's with the Baroness, but you can see the tiny glimmer of hope there --- a bit of tender vulnerability --- as he asks her why she came back. And the way he turns toward her before pulling her in for the kiss --- swoon!
I first saw this film when I was 7! 64 now, I have watched it so many times. I think I know every word! Lucky enough to have visited Salzburg. This is my favourite scene.
To Christopher Plummer as captain von Trapp to the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may be gone but not forgotten still going strong you may be gone but not forgotten still going true love between two people very impressed stay safe and warm out there stay strong as well much love and respect and appreciation job well done you should be amazed and proud love you guys thanks !!! Joe
She drove away Maria in an underhanded fashion, and she was planning to send the kids to boarding school, so I'm willing to classify her a villain. But it's clear that the Baroness genuinely loved Captain von Trapp. And I've always appreciated that she knew when she'd lost, and she bowed out gracefully. No revenge or retaliation, no taking everyone else down with her, no returning later in the story to make their lives miserable. She packed her bags and went back to Vienna, just like she said she would, and she was never heard from again. And her parting words were a suggestion that the Captain should pursue Maria instead. As romantic rivals go, you could do a lot worse.
“Well you can’t marry someone when you’re… in love with someone else. Can you?” The way he looks at her when he says “in love with someone else” melts my heart
People in this commentary section either don't realize or pretend they don't realize Elsa may have been classy and nice in this scene but that she was a whole nazi supporter... Especially in the play, of course, but in the film she still is shown being rather okay with them. Sooo I don't think she's that much of a "heroine" or anything of the sort for doing something like giving up on someone who clearly never really wanted her (in which case he's at fault too for being a coward for too long) especially considering everything that happened previously.
This is the second upload of this scene I’m commenting on. Even though Julie is the reason i discovered this movie in the 2000’s, one reason I come back to it once in a while is the love story between Maria and the Captain. Even though Christopher grew bitter about the role, I’m glad he and Julie stayed friends all these years. May he rest in peace!
I’ve been looking a while hoping this scene would be uploaded. Especially with the background music. RIP Eleanor and Christopher. You can tell they played off each other so well here parting amicably after all that’s happened.
During the scene, Julie got the giggles so bad that it happened too often that is the Director, moved them into the silhouette in front of the door to hide the giggles
Они оба смеялись из-за скрипа угольных светильников. Звук этот их обоих очень смешил и сцена не удавалась, пока режиссёр не принял решение снять их в силуэте. Это просто идеальное его решение сделало сцену ещё более романтической!!! ❤❤❤
