Have you seen Joker: Folie à Deux in 4DX? What did you think of it in the format and just as a film? If your comment includes spoilers, please mark it with “SPOILERS”. Thank you!
You're really putting a lotta effort in these niche format reviews. Do you just do these as a hobby/passion or are you looking for an income source through this? Just asking. I love 4DX format a lot!
Well I get all of them from an app/website. I have no insider information so I don't know anything earlier than anyone else. Thank you for the comments though!
Just got home a couple hours ago from seeing this one. I’ve watched the first film enough to say that I have probably studied it more than most people have. Considering there wasn’t supposed to be a sequel and they made one because they made so much money off the first, I am less harsh with my review than you are with yours. I think there’s a lot to like about this one. It’s not wildly different from the original, but it’s not the same nor do I think it should be. I love how they blended the music from the first film with new music, beginning with the known and familiar themes before Arthur meets Harley, and how everything changes once he does. The mental musical numbers that take place in their heads, aren’t quite old Hollywood grandiose because in their minds they wouldn’t be. There is an element of graininess even to their musical numbers because of the violence under the surface that bubbles over at certain points. This film is about how Arthur has changed, he’s not quite the same person he was in the first film. He changes even more because of meeting her. Instead of considering these as two separate stories, it’s kind of part one and part two of the tragedy of Arthur Fleck. I think your view of the story changes when you consider it one full story instead of two separate ones. I also found an interesting meaning to include a cover of “true love will find you in the end” done by Joaquin Phoenix in the credits.
Thanks for the comment, Tim! I really like your point about the musical numbers in their head not being as grandiose because they wouldn't be to them. I did not even notice the end credit song, I'll have to listen to it. I actually am seeing this again cause it's in 4DX and I review those so maybe I'll enjoy this film more. If I do I doubt it'll be because of 4DX lol because even before seeing it, I felt like there wasn't much they could do with 4DX to make it worth the extra money for people. I feel even more that way after seeing it the other night. And about your part 1/part 2 point, this felt like an epilogue to the first one in a lot of ways (for better or worse) so I think it's a good point. When I first left the film, I prob would have given it a 6ish/10 but I've just gone down on it each day since then and even that night lol.
@@theupsidedan there are a little nuances that I appreciated which some people might miss. I won’t get into specifics so I don’t spoil things for someone else. I definitely feel like the cover of “true love will find you in the end“ serves as a coda to the story. Stick around for the end credits and you’ll hear it before the end. You could listen to it now if you want to, but its true impact is more evident when you’ve just seen what it’s referring to.
So the early screening was only in IMAX. I should be seeing this in 4DX today. I think it's one of the more odd picks for 4DX as well. Thanks for the comment!
I’m still holding out hope for this one as I seem to enjoy stuff e try one else hates 😂 I expect it to be completely different from the last movie, but the GaGa can surely only elevate things.
@@LisaLoves Yeah me too....I enjoyed watching Spiderman far from home, captain America, venom 1&2, X-Men Dark phoenix which are considered generic and lamd
Really?! 4Dx really ruined the movie for me. It did not match at all. You see a duck walking through grass, but you feel like you are on a bike bumping off stairs. The chasing scene were annoying the movements were way too big for what you see. I almost left the cinema.
Hm... You're such a film afficianado! I am really impressed to see all the beautiful blurays of Joker & Co. I think you've been doing this for all the franchise films.
Yeah, so it was an early IMAX screening so no 4DX yet. I originally mentioned that in the short but it was getting too long so I had to cut some of it. But I’ll talk about that more in my long form movie review.
I cannot recommend this movie enough. So much fun, I was jeering and clapping for the humour and all the feels for mid section. All the actions bits were complemented by 4dx effects, one of the best 4dx this year for sure.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I didn't like it much lol. I'm seeing it again, in 4DX this time, today so I'll see if I like the film more... or less, or maybe I'll think the same haha. Just please mark with SPOILERS if you're going to talk any spoilers. SPOILERS BELOW: Yeah, I think that guy who killed him will be the actual Joker that fights Batman. I don't think we'll actually see that but yeah. I think he was just crazy and I think it signifies that Arthur inspired a lot of chaos and inspired the Joker we know from the comics/other movies to step up and take that mantle. Maybe he would have killed him anyway but I think since Arthur admitted he's not Joker/there is no Joker, this guy wanted to take his place kind of. He didn't look up to Arthur anymore cause he said there is no Joker, just like Harley lost interest when he wasn't Joker anymore. Kind of just a never ending cycle of mental health issues/toxic fandom etc. Thanks for commenting!
Only if the film is in 3D and 4DX. Some movies, just like in standard, will not be 3D. Transformers One and The Wild Robot were both in 3D 4DX, so for those we have to wear 3D glasses. Joker 2 isn't in 3D so no glasses. At least at my theater, they usually only have the option to do 3D 4DX if that film is coming to both. Some theaters may have specific showtimes where it's 2D 4DX or 3D 4DX. Thanks for asking!
I really enjoyed this movie and the 4DX was great. I notice a smell but it wasn't a skunk smell. its the same smell I've notice sometimes before. I saw megalopolis. Boy that movie was a mess.
@@sonicsnake44 yeah… I’m still curious to see Megalopolis but I can’t imagine I’ll like it either lol. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed this movie though! Thank you for sharing!
I watched it in IMAX and loved it! I think it would have been amazing in 4DX, but I'm kind of glad I didn't because not only were the visuals stunning in IMAX, but the tone of the movie was very heartwarming and touching. I think all the seat movements would have detracted from and changed the tone of the movie for me. By the end of it, we were all sobbing in the theatre - even the grown men haha
Can’t wait for joker smile 2 venom and the last dance and nightmare before Christmas reissue those are some movies coming to the 4DX movie theater experience
@@theupsidedan thank you. I think we may do imax first then try 4dx with just my daughter after. My partner is neurodivergent and may get a little overstimulated.
Waited so long for the 4DX review that I got impatient and saw it in IMAX before. Very awesome movie, the beginning felt like they’re trying too hard to make us laugh but the story and awesomeness gets amazing later on and it’s a great backstory and origin of the villain Megatron
It's a shame that the marketing failed this film. It was a great movie and the 4DX experience was fantastic and YES that train scene was an amazing 4DX experience.
@@991hit so I had an unexpected family thing come up and I’ve been busy for the past week. I got to see Transformers One in 4DX on Saturday night but I haven’t been able to film until just now. So yeah, my videos should be up soon.
@@82heartofalion Hey, so I’ve been very busy unexpectedly this past week but I saw it Saturday night and I’m hoping to get my reviews out soon (I still haven’t been able to film them). I know they’re very late.
