BS, I put in low E windows and noticed very little difference in the winter and now two windows blew out and a replacement cost of $1800 - I want my single pane glass back that last for years.
In 2007 I bought double pane windows and now I have 2 windows with broken glass seals. I didn't know anything about Low-e-glass and I want to make sure the glass I have is the same glass these companies are telling me they have for sale - yep it is the same but my flame is darker orange vs the lighter orange in the candle flame. Thanks for the video. BTW to replace a door panel and widow panel with grids $1800.
Use a window with argon gas instead of air. And to make it better, windows with 3 layer of glass and two pockes of argon. We use it in the cold north to isolate from the cold, and heat.
Am going to sliding glass doors to replace our French doors. They only open on one end, so no more room for opening. We have to get blinds for them every so often because they look like crap. Have had sliding doors before and loved them. Also they look so much better.
Thank you! Your company installed my Anlin windows in 2007. There great! One of the windows spring packs failed. I called Anlin as I live in Los Angeles and they're right nextdoor in Anaheim. I was ready to pay whatever for the parts, but was told it's labor that's covered for ten years, but parts for as long as I own the house. Anlin sent me enough packs to cover four windows. Your instructional video with very helpful. The packs in my windows are different. At first I thought Anlin sent me the wrong parts. That walls until I googled instructions that led me to your helpful video. Worked like a charm! Again thank you so much.
This is such inaccurate information! All reputable window film manufacturers have a Film to Glass chart SPECIFICALLY for dual pane glass, with or without a LowE coating. After 38 years in business, I have seen more seal failure on dual pane windows without film than I have with film. EVERY glass manufacturer wants a way out of their warranty, because they all have somewhere between a 2-5% failure rate. We tint 20,000+ panes per year in my business, 99.5% of which are dual pane with a LowE coating, and on average, we have 2 or 3 panes annually that experience seal failure. In addition, the window film manufacturer gives a direct replacement seal failure warranty to the glass manufacturer’s warranty.
I wish the company I used had educated me on this. They only offered one coating and installed the strongest low e on a window that doesn’t get direct sunlight. My house is so dark now it’s so depressing.
Man, can we just upgrade our current 7 years old windows with these thickness of offset glasses or it's not possible? I watched all your videos I feel lol
Hello Sean, I love your content and thanks for breaking it down. I feel I am being sold left and right by sales-guys but something about your content I am kinda sold LOL. I already filled out a form on your website and need your expertise if I should just replace the glass w offset glasses (1/8 and 3/16) for our picture frame windows, or I would need the ANLIN sound package windows. I am looking at laminate glass windows and STC lvl of 40 and above. The neighbor AC humming is seeping into our living room, its not loud but simply irritating I guess.... so its low frequency w the humming etc. Look forward chatting with you, I am close to long beach areas 90623
I am getting my door replaced and I considered French doors, but the screen and the fact that the doors take up internal or external space when opened made me decide to stick with a slider. We also have really strong wind and wind gusts out here in Texas and having the window blow open into something (or someone) and get damaged or damage what it hit was also a big consideration.
Great video! Would love to see an example of an aluminum replacement where the fixed window bracket doesn't screw out. That's what I'm replacing and I just used a sawzall to cut it out after removing the glass. Curious what your method is. Also, what do you recommend for cutting the fin? It looked like a small reciprocating saw in the video.
The vinyl windows might be okay in temporate climates, but in the South, the vinyl simply doesn't last as long as aluminum. Fiberglass might be more expensive but it at least stands a chance of lasting as long as your mortgage. Vinyl is also bad for the environment. It's toxic to the atmosphere when it's made and it's toxic to the ground.
You have shown more than I've seen, since I had my 32yr old house built! I spent about 1/2hr adding screws to the top track and adjusted my rollers. I need to replace the old rollers soon. I noticed the builder missed 4 screws on the side and 1 screw on the top. After adding the screws, cleaning the rollers, I did manage to get the door to slide better. Still not perfect until rollers get replaced but good enough for now.❤🙂😇🥰. Also I noticed alot of play on my stationary door and I added a spacer. Everything is nice and snug now! Great info, the world needs to know in these uncertain times, between dangerous weather and bad guys!
I have one question please. I understood everything except - before you installed the replacement pane you said to make sure the area was sticky to make sure water did not sit in the window. What did you put there to make it sticky. Video did not show this. This area is where the blue tape was in case I am not wording question correctly. Thank you for creating this video. We thought this was going to entail a major expense.
All my furniture fit through my front door. Sliding glass doors tend to have an even bigger opening than a normal door. I have to wonder what kind of furniture that was.
Hi! I just installed 4 new windows today - two with Delta Frost glass and two standard ones. They are all on the west side of the house so they all get direct sunlight in the afternoon. The strange thing is when I measured the window temperature from inside in the afternoon, the Delta Frost windows were almost 10 degrees higher than the standard windows(96.7F vs 86.8F). Does obscure glass tend to absorb more heat or reflect less light out and cause the differences? They are all Milgard Tuscany v400. Thanks.
