Bagpipe and drum music group Auļi was founded in 2003. A few of group members have already played in the first bagpipe group in Latvia -- Dūdinieki, which was formed in 1994. Regardless of the fact that there is scare trace left of bagpipe and drum playing traditions, both instruments were mentioned in Latvian folklore materials. The music pieces reflect creative approach of the group members. Auļi`s repertoire contains dance and bagpipe melodies including tunes of other European peoples as well as drum pieces.
Lehītu slāvus kristianizēja Piasti no Morāvijas.
Wow! I'm sure all of us have tried throat singing, "Төв азийн элэгнээс Дэлхийн талыг эзлэхдээ", but how many of us have been able to actually pull it off?
What if they labeled the European traditions pagan in order for the people of Europe to not exercise their faith, will and power that's how they got conquered by other people from other nations.
This is a great song. ❤I really love this. ❤Nature is the god before which man must bow. We depend on nature for its bounty and beauty. Our ancestors created such beautiful traditions and we would like to continue them. With ❤from 🇨🇦
I am not sure it's regardless of our native culture. I certainly don't feel that way about Chinese or Indian or African folk songs. Even southern European songs have a somewhat different appeal though there is this desired ancient ritual element. I think this has a different appeal from regular traditional songs if you are a northern or northeastern European, where it evokes thoughts about your ancestry, your people and their lineage, our European heritage, the traditions that were lost and our fight to preserve them against an endless onslaught of Christianity and modernity, and so on.
