The very first set of headphones I ever got were Lloyds’ branded. They were a reasonably made product that was acceptable for the time they were built in. I remember seeing this label a lot back in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
@@RJDA.Dakota When I was 10, mom got me a nice Lloyd’s am/Fm. portable. I did tons of DXing on it. Even took it to summer camp. [ they had to make some new rules, as no one had ever brought one. Since there was only 1 station [ worth listening to, daytime, and one good rock station at night [ KAAY], there was no conflict between us in my cabin. We even listened to Cardinals games on KMOX. The radio was there on the shelf for all to use. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂
Cool. Yes ,Lloyd’s were a fairly popular brand. Not high end by any stretch, but not at the bottom, either. From age 10 -15 I had a cool Lloyd’s portable AM/FM. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂
Hey Tom I don't always comment but I'm always here. I wish you and your wife and your whole family a terrific memorial Day weekend. Hopefully you can do something fun. I'm not happy hearing what the weather service is predicting as far as hurricanes but I hope you will be all right.

I love Nobility radios! Every time they came out with another radio with an extra transistor I would get one at the local drugstore. It seems on the east coast the name brand was called Candle. Great radios, the last one I had was a Nobility Am/Fm radio that was broken by my brother and for the longest time tried to find it on eBay. Good Show! Thanks for the post.
CANDLE was the brand of “Tokyo Transistor Co. LTD. They made pretty good stuff. I’m not sure who made radios for Nobility. Not sure who sold them. Nobility was a lower cost brand, especially from the mid 1960’s on. This radio was sold under several different brand names. But it’s a very good radio. Keep looking, you might just find the old AM/FM radio you once had - and it made have a different brand on it. Too bad your brother broke it. Often , extra transistors did nothing at all, except make you think it was a better radio.😮 Thanks for sharing and watching. 📻🙂
@@jeffking4176 THANK YOU for the information! The Only reason I mention that was I also had an AM/FM Shortwave Nobility radio. Later I saw the same thing with the Brand Name Candle on it and just assumed that it was the same company. And you are right, the extra transistors was just a ploy but it sure snagged me all the time when buying them. 😁. As for the last radio, I really can't blame my brother, He took it to the beach and some kids ran over it while he was just lying there. 😛😅
THIS is about as basic as Sony got. From what I’ve been told, Sony didn’t even make these, but rather had someone else make them. There are also tons of Copies made that are much cheaper made, but use the same design, [ including the colored holes.]. Not a bad radio - but just very basic. 📻🙂
I have 3 icf-sw10 and one icf-sw11 The 11 was built on china and the 10 in japan. They basically have the same performance, meaning very good performance! They receive like a champ on all the bands. It has stereo fm and the sound is very sweet. Plus they last forever on a fresh set of batteries. A keeper !
hey Tom im happy to see you here again,,,Ive been hearing alot of hype about this radio, it certainly is good looking imho,,,thats such a bummer that it mutes when tuning,, like you thats a dealbreaker for me
Believe it or not, I have one of these in my toolbox. AM only, very screechy sound. Thank you for telling the manufacturing date. I never know when I pick up these old recievers. 👍
A few years ago, when we had a hurricane heading our way, I was fully prepared, but there was still some time left, so I was hitting all the area stores again to see if any more supplies were coming in. I noticed , everywhere, all batteries were gone, except for a few cheap packs of “AAA”, and TONS of 9 volt batteries. Got me thinking back to when I was a kid. SO, I bought a couple of those pocket radios , and that is what started my collection. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂
You know it's really too bad that music cannot be broadcasted in here. Radio people have no desire to capitalize on musical artists. It would be nice to compare two or more different recievers for reception up and down the band. Why are copyrighted sporting events and clips from major motion pictures allowed here but not music extracted from AM radio?? Sorry just venting. Keep up the good work. 👍👏
Honestly most of the MFJ stuff I bought was not of good quality....however I really like my ClearSpeach speaker. Back in our day I preferred Palstar. Still use their stuff.
