Exploring new routes, scrambling up classic lines to overnighting on peaks we love being outdoors in wild places.
South Africa has so many remarkable mountains and they are all calling. Passionate about mountains and coffee we decided to share some of our outdoor excursions with you in the hope that this channel inspires you to explore some of these places yourself. Or to spark your imagination and seek adventures in your local mountains.
I need to come back and watch this one properly. I've done Waaihoek past Thomas Hut down towards Worcester, and a detour to Buffelshoek, but never from Ceres side. The Hex is probably SA's most underrated mountain range - the only Cape range that I rate competes with the Drakensberg in terms of scale as well as dramatic scenery.
I prefer the Hex to the Drakensberg. It is very wild and rugged. Very little people. You can easily spend 5 days there without meeting a soul. There are lots of nice options on the Ceres side. Go explore if you can.
Lovely shots and awesome peak bagging. The Hex is my second home, without a doubt my fav place. Bruce Spottiswoode, Greg Wessels, Roy White and I rebuilt Perry in 2008 after it was destroyed by a fire.
Thanks alot. It was great trip. I definitely don't get out there as much as I would like to. It is a glorious place. That is fantastic. Thanks for your hard work in the rebuild! It is much appreciated by all who visit for sure. What a spot.
Great stuff. Well done. Nice video. I've been up there so often if feels like my 'home turf'. No Horseshoe and Horseshoe Ridge Peak etc..? Oh well, 3 times on Sentinel beats my 2 ascents (one at night with 2 well known 'crazies' - creepy) 😉😂
Thanks for the feedback. It is one of my favourite ranges. I did Horseshoe last time so this time skipped past. Getting lazy I guess.... Not many have stood on Sentinel. Each time feels like Christmas. Hope you get up there many more times.
@@mountaingoats9734 Also one of my favourites. Understandable. I remember climbing (or was it tottering) onto some of the smaller tops beyond the main peak/s on one occasion. Scary stuff. I think I was with 'the Behne'. Crazy man. Keep the great vids going.
Great adventure we slept at the spout cave and we summit tafel berg the next morning and head to the Arch and overnight there and head back down the wide cracks to sandriff
Hi there .Im Planning to do the outeniqua trail I would really appreciate if you can share your GPX track from goudveld to millwood via jubilee creek and beyond

Going by memory, as you hit the vlakte below the tafelberg and spout - I think where you had the snack. Cut left (away from consolation peak for about 300m to a rocky outcrop where you will find water. That was our camp site when volunteering as climbing instructors for the Scout Adventure Camp. Even when the drip behind the spout was dry, the water on the vlakte never dried up - even in mid-summer.
As a first timer i recomend that you go first with someone that knows the route otherwise you wont find it, let me know if you have questions i did it yesterday
@@stijndebelie2698 route finding can be a bit tricky if you are not used to navigating this type of terrain! Excellent. Hope you enjoyed the route. I keep going back there for the views.
Same. I tried both and Mescalito feels comfy out of the box while with Tx4 I might have gotten a bad pair with some stiff stitches on the inner side of the tongue. Putting this aside, Tx4 looks comfortable as well. Don't know how they are on long run. They are lighter, fact. But not sure it's a game changer here. Long story short, I bought a pair of Mescalito:)
Thanks man. I would for sure do the route again as an overnight hike just to soak more of it in! You would really like looking at all those pinnacles over at Pisgah side. The sight will make you want to climb them.
@@mountaingoats9734 I feel your pain - I kind of do the same thing - even in the caves, which is really not the brightest move - but my legs can breathe....!
