KEAN EDGE Racing primary focuses on sailing High Performance Catamarans such as Formula 18, Nacra 17 and Extreme 40. Our regularly campaigned boat is based in SEQ, however also travels to many of the local SEQ and larger interstate regattas.
Wow, just blue me away. I didn't even know there was 40 foot cats racing down the bay! how many racing cats are their in Brizzy? Dun a few races on maxes Brisbane 2 Gladstone but these cat's are something else ... a young persons sport... sore bum after a few hours I bet. I can't wait to see a big foiler in Queensland, I'm thinking 5 or 6 hours to Gladstone! Fast sailing is great sailing. UE on the Sunny.
Two Extreme 40's are based in Brisbane and 2 are based in Airlie. Generally they only come together a couple of times a year for the larger regattas such as Moreton Bay Multihull Regatta, St Helena Cup & Airlie Beach Race Week
Great example of team work. I can't emphasize enough the stress of this kind of on the edge racing, to see great coordination, cool heads, analysing other sailing teams is amazing.
It is certainly a lot 'easier' through the water than the C2, but it takes a lot of water flush on the front beam. Maybe needs the hull fairing to the beam to split water above and below like the new A Classes.
Found your channel just over a year ago. Got addicted, watched everything with great pleasure. I'd been daft about sailing from age 11 to age 40 when I just got fed up with the whole scene here in Scotland. Cold, wet and endless drunks - self included. Sold the boat and got serious about life. Permanently a seaman, 50 years at sea, Recently retired and looking at 70 - fleeting thoughts of boating again but then looking out the window at the endless sh*t weather it's easier to roll over knowing - been there done that. So happy to check in today to see you'd uploaded some new video - I was off again, shouting on the sofa, c'mon! c'mon!. Heart bumping away faster n faster. Prolly a risky thing. Is that young James from last year? He is much more confident and you are working so well together. It's wonderful - as Scots say 'Just magic' Thanks guys, you both deserve success. 😃😃
Thanks Nick... Plenty of footage coming up in the next few weeks I hope you enjoy as we prepare for the F18 Australian Nationals on a brand new Nacra Evolution we have for the event
Pure luck is more like it. Did you see any specific "save" measure or hear anyone shout an order to let release the sheets ? Your boat sounds like a safe place to be ..... not.
im new to the nacra 17 and am tryuing to learn how to sail it fast. I see you as helmsmann sit on the hull while running downwind, is your crewmate on trapeze then?
ive had a few capsizes trying to fall away to quickly when the wind rises causing me to be forced of the boat which in return causes more force on the rudder which in the end makes me loose contact with the boat. And sitting on the hull would help this
I loved your video. Wish we had the camera tech like this back when I used to race my Hobie 18 back in the 80's. Brings back some great memories... By the way, your crew was awesome.
What mind-blowing speed. Highly impressive. Really liked the calm demeanour and communication of the team. I’m sure it made for a much more pleasant race…
I'd wish please, the camera were on a pole on the stern. Too much movement. I enjoy very much watching the speed of your catamaran and even more when other competitors appear in the scene.
