Welcome to my channel deticated to vehicle videos.I mainly upload cold start videos.I am no mechanic but I also post videos on a few tips and tricks that might help you with your car problems.I also will do vehicle tours from time to time.
Surprisingly with this car having 258,000 miles on it this car drives almost as like it’s still new.The only thing is the transmission shifts a bit ruff for an Acura but that’s to be expected with the high mileage.
To reset the Ford 500 anti-theft system, begin by removing the positive terminal cable from the battery, place the key in the car and switch it to the on mode, then fix the positive cable, turn the key off and then reset the alarm. This can reset the anti-theft system so that it is now available to start the car properly. Often this can be triggered by replacing the battery or by draining the battery from the power supply. This may also be triggered by the pass lock sensor being defective, which would cause the anti-system to go off and prevent the car from running. If you have access to an OBD diagnostic tool, you can also use it to reset the anti-theft device.
My problem was a cheap usb port in the 12 v plug in…. No joke.. it was causing a short and ever since I stopped keeping that plugged in I have not had a single issue.
I had this issue on my 2005 mustang, I tried the 10-15 min ignition trick and checked for any blown fuses and was watching videos on reprogramming my keys again but it turns out my battery was to old and was tripping some sensor.
After reading through the owners manual’s chapter on fuses I found out that the hazards, horn and break lights are all powered by the fuse box under the hood. This vehicle has a fuse box in the interior as well.I am pretty sure what’s happening is the kill switch is only effecting the interior fuse box that powers the dome lights, power locks, driver seat and everything else in the interior.
I am not quitting making videos.I just wanted to thank you guys for sticking with me since I started this channel two years ago with the Sable.247 subscribers might not sound like much compared to other channels but It means a lot to me.
I have a 94 explorer with the antitheft light blinking it cranks but wont start. it just started doing it out of the blue its a great low mile rig but its useless now
Thanks.I had a suspicion it had something to do with the evap system. I already had a suspicion this problem was not fuel pump related as the car starts right up at any other time.
This has been a problem only when I fill up.Any other time this car fires right up and runs great with no issue. Not sure what the problem is.I will update once it is fixed.
Also with the key off the rear brake lights work when you step on the brake. If anyone knows anything about kill switches or wiring please drop a comment as I am interested in how this works. At some point I plan to disable the kill switch to get keyless entry working again. I got to say however despite this TL having over 200,000 miles on it runs great and is really fun to drive.
Hey thank you I checked 18 and bad then removed right side tail light and drained water dried plugs drain water sealed were water was getting in . Thanks again😊
Quick backstory on this car.My uncle bought it brand new in 2006.During his time of ownership he encountered a battery drain problem so he had that kill switch put in.He stopped driving the car in 2019 and gave it to me in April of this year for free after the transmission on my mercury sable died.
Ford puts this system in all their "quality" vehicles so you have to buy a new solenoid or starter "every" time the battery is changed out. This kind of problem never occurs except when it's time for a new battery.
Hola amigo!
Well the car was previously owned by my uncle who takes great care of his cars.I have driven this car and the transmission shifts great.I know the TL’s of this generation have transmission issues but so far this transmission has been working great.
Since I have owned this car for a bit now I can say that the transmission does shift a little ruff but not to the point of it being a problem. The transmission also will lag for a second before going into reverse or drive.Since the car has 255K on it some minor transmission issues are to be expected but it still works good enough to get the job done.
The ignition requires a chip in the key for it to start. If you get a replacement key, you have to go for a special key for that make and model. A regular key won’t work.
Yes.This generation of Sable/Taurus lasted from 2000 to 2007.I personally owned a 2000 Sable that sadly suffered transmission failure at only 71,000 Miles. These cars had transmission issues. But I have to say before the transmission went bad it was a very nice car.
I have a ford five hundred 2005 limited and tye battery on my car died. After I changed the battery, the horn started to blare and the engine wasn't starting. Apparently, it was an issue with the passive anti theft system and it wasn't allowing it to start. The solution is whenever you change the battery on this car one is supposed to take off the positive terminal off and then another person needs to sit in the car and hold the key to start the engine while pressing a small black switch which is under the left side of steering wheel near driver's left knee, at the same time when you try to start it another person need to connect the positive terminal and the car will start. The dealership asked me to tow in the car and said they will charge 200$ for it. Additionally, before I put in the new battery, when I jump started the car, I saw all kinds of lights like check engine, check transmission, check charging system and now after changing the battery and doing the above steps all lights are gone and car worked fine and I hope it keeps driving fine.
Correction the Vulcan motors are the better ones to get in the sable\taurus because although the Vulcan lacks horsepower it doesn’t burn out the transmission.
My great grandmother bought the car used in 2002 and I got it in May of 2022 so a total of 22 years.Yes it did suck having to part ways with the Sable but I am grateful that it lasted long enough for me to have the chance to own and drive it.The Sable will live on through the videos I made of it.

Update:Sadly despite this vehicle’s low mileage I had to scrap it today. It had 71558 miles on it.The transmission had completely lost 2nd gear. These cars are not bad but there transmissions are absolutely horse sh🤬it.
What sucks the most is that the rest of the car is in good condition. In general I don’t think the sable’s/ Taurus’s of this generation are bad cars. Its just ford had to put sh🤬t transmissions in them. My next car is going to be a 2006 Acura TL.I should be getting it sometime this weekend.
@@BonnieTheBunny-6170Sadly rebuilding the transmission was outside my budget and the problem with getting one from a junkyard is that these AX4N transmissions are not the best and there is no way of knowing that the used one would work.
@darklord2184 If I do have transmission problems then imma rebuild it. Cause I have a 2005 ford escape xlt and it has transmission problems, it wasn't even moving that much. So I had to rebuild it and after the rebuild then it starting to move again
It only has 71,558 miles. Before I got it in May of 2022 the car belonged to my grandmother and after she stopped driving it sat in the garage for a long time. She held on to it because I really liked the car.I was aware of the bad reputation these cars have for transmission issues but I thought because of the low mileage the transmission would be ok.It had close to 63,000 Miles when I got the car in May of 2022. I sadly had to scrap it today.Besides the low mileage the rest of the car was in good condition witch really sucks.I honestly don’t think these cars are terrible they just had the terrible AX4N transmission.
