Honestly there are so many tangible and intangible horrors really happening around us but not getting exposure intentionally, or unintentionally because we are too busy with vague obfuscation such as this. I haven't yet been to Cahokia but I have been to other sites such as Angel Mounds in Indiana and Etowah and Ocmulgee in Georgia. I am wondering given Cahokia's proximity to the New Madrid Fault, whether some kind of seismic event could have played a role in its demise. Or, since this area is also known for tornadoes, particularly the Tri-State Tornado of a hundred years ago, could something like that, a large violent tornado, have contributed to Cahokia's downfall? I'm not saying that it was just one factor but it could have been a combination of factors, and I think severe weather events could have very well played a role. We are all familiar with Moore and El Reno in Oklahoma, Greensburg, Kansas, Joplin, Missouri, Tuscaloosa, Alabama and what those tornadoes did to those towns--why would we think that Cahokia would be any different?
