The skegs on those Mercury are of SHIT! Don't even breathe on it or it might break! I'm freaking serious $20,000 for a motor and you have to worry about ruining a very expensive part because they're made out of plastic shit!
Dow did you get this repaired? I have a broken skeg on the 150 pro xs. Did you find a replacement skeg to have welded on? If so, could you let me know which one it is?
I took my boat to bass pro shop. They have a vendor that they work with, to repair skegs . Basically, the process is they wield a metal piece in the damaged area of the skeg. They smooth it out, polish it up and paint over it.
Man I had the same thing happen to me but it was maybe two months after I got mine. Did you have any performance issues after your repairs? I got a new prop and my skeg had a few chips but still intact and my hull got a small scrape. I got prop ventilation issues now. Any ideas?

You reminded me when I was a young man in the 70s and I bout a brand new 4 speed Trans am I really like, and a lady ran a stop sigh the next day so fast the car landed in a house causing damage to the house, but at least I was alive and unheart ,but the car I only had for 1 day

Didn’t even know what a skeg was until I dragged it for like 10ft at the boat ramp lol because I forgot to put the motor up. Appreciate your positive vibes I’m a first time boater to and your outlook is helpful.
Yeah I had to force myself to do use any type of wacky or nekp type rig stuff. After awhile you start having a little success you start liking it. Good luck brother, love your videos.

Need to show us how you use your expensive electronics. Never used depth finders and would love a lesson or two. For example what is the difference between the bow mounted unit and the console unit? Enjoy your boat!
I am currently in the learning phase myself. My console unit, and the unit at the bow are connected. Also, my bow unit is connected to my trolling motor. Which allows me to search for fish or structure while I’m using the trolling motor.
Google "skeg guard ". Stainless steel sleeve that slides over you skeg and bolts on.. only need 1 inch of existing skeg for it to work. I put one on my boat before it ever hit the water. Boat shop can send prop off to be repaired .
i thought break in wasnt supposed to be on plane for atlleast the first hour.Atleast yamaha. Ive broken in 4 so far?Dang how do you break a trolling motor prop? lost a couple , but never broke geez. You need 3 spare props fyi. One to replace the lost one and a metal 3 blade sharpened for grass. youll thank me later. Also a spare prop for the big motor or atleast a new hub insert if you spin it out.

Lake ray Robert’s is not the best lake to break in your first boat lol it will not be the last time my friend. I have absolutely destroyed the lower unit on my boat before. Every time you even bump something you will cringe. Just part of boat ownership.
I wished that you would have informed me about Ray Robert’s before I damaged my skeg. (Lol) It’s an expensive lesson, unfortunately a necessary lesson. Now I’m extra cautious.
@@chrisedwards941 eagle mountain. All the crazy spots I have hauled Azz and Eagle mountain is the place 😂 found a bolder or something. Bent the prop shaft and sheered the drive gears down smooth. Shop said my gearbox looked like it had a metal flake paint job haha
