personally I believe if the fish is supported properly when lip gripping perch and you’re not just dangling them about by their lip, there’s not gonna be any damage. You get a much better hold on the fish which means there’s less chance of dropping them. I respect not everyone is for lip gripping perch
Is that the light action 2-10 gram fate? I’ve got one and no way can you feel anything less than 5g unless there’s no wind 😂 I was chucking a 25 g spook on it the other day 😂 reordered another bfs rod bc it’s too heavy
Pahaha I found out the hard way, I was just letting it run and trying to slowly slow it down with my hand on the spool. Oh well, that’s fishing for you
@Oliverlawrenceangling I wish I knew they have been elusive to me only seen one before and my m8 caught it whilst I was un hooking a jack was from the river though but I'm not stopping I will get one haha
Oh man i know. I lost a £12 savage gear perch shad lure in a bush the exact same way. Brand new, first few casts and I never saw it again 🤣🤣 I wont take potentially risky casts unless Ive got a cheap amazon special on... Its cheap enough for me not to care if i lose it.
@Oliverlawrenceangling any time was nice to see you out the other day I headed abit further down had 2 nice perch but good to see the local places get represented
I use the sonik xtractors 9ft 2.75. Either the dwarf or the scopes are perfect. However I found the 2.75s are a little soft and I struggled to set the hooks properly until I started using braid 👍
