Proe (Afrikaans word for “Taste”) is a community TV cooking show and the producers are trying to give the local community a platform that is not easily to achieve on various commercial and community television stations and whereas the simple aim of the producers is to keep the show true to the natural homestead cooking and true to reality, not enhancing the prefect show. This show is about you in the kitchen showing and sharing with the viewers the real meaning of home cooking. This show is bilingual Afrikaans and English presented by Abidah Dixon Mohamed.

Botterhoender Resep Bestandele: 450 g ontbeen, vel-vry hoenderdye of borsies, in happiegroot stukke gesny 3 uie, fyngekap 1 teelepel sout 1 teelepel knoffel en gemmer pasta 3 teelepels peri peri speserye 2 teelepel dhania en jeera speserye (koljander en komyn) 2 teelepel botterhoender speserye 1/2 teelepel borrie 1 eetlepel tamatiepasta 1/2 koppie vars room 2 eetlepels olie of botter (vir kook) Instruksies: Voorbereiding: Verhit die olie of botter in 'n groot pan oor medium hitte. 1. Kook die Uie: Voeg die fyngekapte uie by die pan en kook totdat dit sag en goudbruin is, ongeveer 5-7 minute. 2. Voeg die hoenderstukke by die pan en brys tot gaar. 3. Voeg die knoffel en gemmer pasta by die uie en kook vir nog 1 minuut totdat dit aromaties is. 4. Voeg die peri peri speserye, dhania en jeera speserye, botterhoender speserye en borrie by. Roer goed om die uie en speserye saam te meng. 5. Voeg 1 koppie water (of hoenderaftreksel) by. Roer goed en laat dit vir 10-15 minute prut totdat die hoender gaar is en die sous dik is. 6. Voeg 1 eetlepel tamatiepasta by. Roer en laat vir 2-3 minute prut. 7. Verlaag die hitte tot laag. Voeg 1/2 koppie vars room by. Meng goed en laat vir 5 minute prut totdat die sous romerig is. 8. Proe die sous en voeg sout by indien nodig. 9. Garneer met vars koljander of pietersielie indien verlang. Bedien met basmatirys, naanbrood of jou voorkeur kant. Geniet jou botterhoender!
