oh man. Nice recording Of Kenny. I was privileged to be able to see him live a few times with Monroe and he would often come to the camp grounds and parking lots and jam with the fans. Kenny was one of those guys who just loved to play.

It is sad to say this, but those Marlboros gave Tony that distinctively excellent sound :)

In a dozen lifetimes, maybe, just maybe I'd be that much of a virtuoso player. Absolute respect for the late, great Lily Mae Ledford.

@@columbia1930 - I heard a story about Tony and Wyatt had a gig with Doc. They had a binge rehearsal about 30 minutes before showtime. The Rice Brothers fogged the small room out the piont that Doc walked out.

Bill Monroe was NOT an old coot . He was the most respected man in the world when the subject " bluegrass music" was brought up. I had the HONOR to shake his hand at Bean blossom in 1971 when I came back from Vietnam. He belongs on Mount Rushmore? R. I.P. Mister Monroe - What a man? They don't make men like him anymore . Nuff said 🙏🇺🇲

Kenny Baker is Bluegrass fiddle. The rudiments, the tone, the time, the phrasing, the shuffle is the standard Kenny Baker set.

My father and I went to a bluegrass festival in Virginia Beach in 1987, where Bill Monroe headed the lineup of bluegrass stars appearing there. We followed him from the stage to his bus and he had two armed guards escort him from the stage to his bus and his mandolin was in a protective case. We got his autograph and spoke with him. What a wonderful memory of the father of bluegrass and my own father who passed away the following year.
