A fun car to drive. Sports mode with paddle shifters stole the show. Suspension has also improved when compared to pre-facelift. I hope Kia has improved upon it’s passive safety. The car is pricey for a sub 4 meter crossover, but really has all the gizmos to make it most desirable in the segment.
Thanks for the detailed Explanation. It was really helpful for me. Just one thing i use mostly in City conditions and i have read that DCT is not suitable for City and i am trying to use Manual for now. What's your take on that?
I am driving the same model since a few days now and i think it's an issue only for people who manhandle the gear box rather than treating it the way it's supposed to be. Most people think that Automatic means they don't have to touch the gear lever until they stop at their destination, which is wrong. In case of long stops such as at the signals, you need to have your car shifted back to Neutral or Parking. Else it's just trying to move forward in Drive Gear while you have applied the brakes which will eventually cause trouble. Compare the same scenario with a manual gearbox. If you drive a manual car, you either put your car in Neutral or you have the Clutch engaged while you let go off the accelerator at any stop. You don't accelerate your car and step on the brakes at the same time.
Hi, DCT gear box heats up in stop and go traffic due to the "clutch slip" happening. If you are using manual mode in the DCT gear box, it's not going to reduce the chance of gearbox heating. The ideal solution is to shift to neutral mode, if you stay stopped for more than 10 seconds.
Bro should i go with sonet htx dct or verna sx manual, i came to a point that these two are the two final options. I know i shouldn’t be comparing sonet and verna. But the price range is similar. So please help me pick one. And please state the reason you picked one over the other.
Hi, My choice will be Kia Sonet HTX DCT. Because, it comes with a great DCT gear box and a more powerful engine compared to the 1.5 mpi engine. Higher ground clearance Leatherette seat with ventilation Interior design (subjective) Verna could be better if you prefer to have More stability in the drive Better boot space Broader cabin and rear seat leg space Low drive position
Wow awesome.. every auto bloggers just explained the basic features and all but this is something different and you have explained the whole features which is really helpful for a viewer who is looking for buying a new car.. Nice one bro keep going and expecting the same kind of videos in future.
@@ajayprabhakarkavungal yeah i knw it bhai. I am talking about 1l turbo petrol only which come in sonet htc dct. Every site showing tht it hs 4 cylindr. But ok. 👍
Bro ..did you try manual mode in bumper-to-bumper traffic in City ? Will it minimize the possible DCT heating issue in crawling scenario ? In such traffic , does the car move into automatic from manual (by itself) after a stop at a signal ? Thanks in advance . :-)
Thanks bro for the review. How do you like the interior color ? brown and black seats ? I liked the black seats of GTX(+) ;but the fullblack interior(roof and sides) is pushing me back. So going ahead with HTX DCT . I guess Diesel or iMT HTX variants comes with beige instead of brown. Beige looks bit more natural than brown on the seats
Nice review. I have been doing a lot of video research on this exact model as I'm serious about buying it soon & came across your video by chance. My final 2 choices that I've zeroed in on are this one or the i20 N Line N8 DCT model which basically has the exact same engine but with a hatchback body & slightly higher mileage claim.
Hi, These two vehicles belong to different size categories. If you are looking for space Vitara is the option. But in all other aspects like features, a high torque engine Sonet is better. Please note: diesel vehicles will have slightly higher maintenance and Pollution norms may get tighter in future.
Hi, what are the best average speeds for highest mileage for this variant? This is very detailed and informative for me as an owner of the same car. Thanks for this video!

Hi, Technically it can happen. Because DCTs are operated with twin clutches. And at lower speeds there is a very high chance of "clutch slip" to keep crawling (technically the clutch has to work against the brakes being applied by the driver to keep the speed low). This leads to over heating of clutches. Best practice is to shift to neutral when not moving in traffic. And this heating depends on multiple factors like Driving behaviour, environment temperature etc.
Yes Ofcourse, It comes with seat height adjustment. With this you can set your seat height as per the physique. For your reference: I am 5'10", and I drive it with the default seat height.
@@ajayprabhakarkavungal Agree :). I booked it a week back, and was a bit sceptical with the price bump. But after getting this news and the bump of 13K-15K in MH region has made this agreeable for me! Hope you enjoy the car, cheers
Hi Anil, It's true that Sonet comes with a Stiff suspension. But not uncomfortable. I never had any complaints from my passengers regarding suspension, but rear seats are uncomfortable due to Less under thigh support and Less shoulder space for 3 passengers. Apparently, the stiff suspension helps to improve the stability at higher speeds and keeps the vehicle agile in corners.
have watched many reviews for this variant. most have a monotone boring sales pitch style but this review is very simple and straightforward about details and features that matter. We got this variant as our first car, same color- 2 months ago and Im still learning new things about it. Great video!
Thanks for bringing up this point. As per the Kia Manual: "After pressing the unlock button, the doors will lock automatically unless you open any door within 30 seconds" You can observe the same in 00:24 of the video.
Yes of course. The design of the wheel could be subjective from person to person. In my perspective, a thin spoke wheel with maximum visibility to discs(paint the calipers if possible) can make it look better. The standard offset is 49-53 mm, and if you increase this it will look cool. When it comes to diameter a 16" will be perfect in proportion.
