If the coach lost their quota- going into the ring would actually trigger a misconduct gamjeong... the Referee should not have entertained the coach, and the coach can always file a formal protest after the match concludes. From what I observed throughout the event is that the Referees were allowing small penalties to go and only calling gamjeongs on obvious penalties (ie out of bounds, some avoiding.), just my two cents.
KPNP over Daedo was a huge mistake, what a horrible showing for their PSS. Hopefully with KPNP2 and Daedo3 coming down the pipe we will have more accurate scoring across the board with regular, technical and punches. What do you guys think about in the last 20 seconds of a match making avoiding the fight worth a gamjeom AND a gyeonggo (1.5 points) so running twice equals 3 penalty points? What rule changes would you like to see going forward to LA2028?

Daedo Gen 3 has an accelerometer and gyroscope added to the hogu, so in theory it can detect when someone has done a turning kick for technical points. That combined with the punch target and a PSS glove makes me believe that they want to minimize human error and improve the general flow of a match (less stops for adding points). KPNP Gen 2 as you mentioned and as is discussed in the WT video will have greater helmet sensitivity which should, hopefully, get rid of "hey my toe flicked you so I get points" type scenarios. If memory serves there is a KPNP Gen 2 PSS glove as well, and I think it was shown off at the WT Diamond League event where Gen2 debuted. The glove I think was an addition which was added to a regular glove via Velcro but somewhere down the line I'm sure they'll release one that has the RFID tag inside of it. I could be misremembering, though. In both cases they are looking for the PSS to register the punch and then one human referee to hit their punch button rather than the regular 2/3 judges confirming. I assume the gyroscope/accelerometer has the same idea, the hogu detects a body turn of 180 or greater and a human verifies that a technical should be added based on the athlete turning their head and shoulder prior to scoring. I watched all of the coach/ref videos that WT put up and I think I remember a part where they said they want to get rid of face/helmet kick IVR as it was the number one reason for long match delays. Again, I could be misremembering or may have misinterpreted. Thanks for the summary!

I wouldn’t be surprised if they switch to the power bar style competition after Paris, this new competition format is likely the future and it makes sense that points will reset.
