Welcome! My name is Holly and I live in California with my Husband and four children.
I love to document our memories through photos and journaling. I also have a huge passion for planning. You will find a mixture of videos here such as tutorials and VLOG's. I hope you enjoy it here!
So beautiful! Always love your pictures. They have such a great color. Really light and soft, but still not washed out. Wish I knew how to do that. Thank you for sharing your Album with us.
Beautiful layout. Love the watercolor. The first watercolor green was perfect and it looked so pretty using the brush strokes as a base for the photo. The paint drops added a lot of texture too. Mixed media is definitely trial and error until you find your own groove with the mediums (sooo many different mediums lol :). It's really fun too. Keep going!
Hi there! Great tutorial! I do Project Life in physical, and I have doubts about the pictures... How much better is the quality at the photo store than at home...? Is it worth it printing at home, or will the pictures fade away much faster over time than printed in photo shops...? Thanks a lot!
Hi there, thank you for all of your videos! I am finding them extremely helpful as I am starting to work in Canva. I do have a question....do you have a way to see PNG files so they do not appear "blacked out"? I downloaded some png stamps and I cannot see them in Canva I think because they have a transparent background. Thoughts?
This is absolutely wonderful!!! I joined Just Write in January but have been a little intimidated to know exactly where to jump in because I can't find ANY samples online. :/ This is perfect actually -- it takes the "fuss" out of it and focuses on the story... and your beautiful pictures. Great job!
Hi Holly! I am new to scrapbooking and Canva. I LOVE Ali Edwards. I love the process of you putting the sub folders in to the main folder of that kit and finding the needing items. Could you also have main folders and upload each kit folder to those folders instead of uploading per kit. Does that make sense? I feel like it would be easier to pull from all instead of remembering what kits is what. Liked and subscribed!!!
I've been looking for a video like this for YEARS!!!! LITERALLY!! I can finally cancel my PicMonkey subscription and turn to Canva 100%! Thank you!!! 😀
This was great, Holly! Thanks for the reminder that we can still get things done in 15min blocks of time! I too, am a Ali Edwards fan but mostly am focusing on digital (because my existing clutter scares me 😂) and much prefer Canva to photoshop- so I really appreciate your tutorials!
Thank you for another great tutorial. I'm transitioning to hybrid and digital scrapbooking and started working with Canva because I was frustrated with PS... Canva is really so much more user-friendly and enough for my needs. But... while I uploaded my photos, I never even thought about uploading papers and embellishments until I saw on of your videos. I have no big time management issues (working part-time, no children, but helping my elderly parents in another city), but sometimes I have an idea for a layout while not at home. I take notes on my phone and back home I sometimes forgot what I meant... So I'm going to download Canva onto my phone and start the layouts right away.
Oh thank you for watching! Let me know how you like Canva on your device! I hope you find it helpful. I tried PS and I did not have the patience to learn another software. Canva was much easier for me too!
This is a great idea I’m going to have to give it a try. I too have a 2.5 yr old (a 12, 16 and 19 yr old) so I get the no time thing (and very little space lol) but the idea of just having one box, I love it! Thank you for sharing 😁
I really like what you said about fitting scrapbooking into your life, not fitting yourself into scrapbooking. I never thought about this before, but you really hit the nail on the head and pointed out what my struggle with it is! I'm excited to follow your journey and see more of your videos :)
Thank you Daria! I am happy to follow yours as well ❤️ Yes, I did it the other way around in the beginning and it was too much for me. Glad I am doing what works right now.
Btw... my word is "Freude".(German for joy). I work as a nurse and found during the last 3 years that I brought more and more work home with me. Originally I thought I wouldn't choose a word for 2023, but on the 4th of January I had my first day off this year and could not stop thinking about work. When I talked to my husband I said in conclusion "I feel like there's no joy left for me." That's something that definitely_ needs_ to change!
I've tried making my own monthly kits before ( I'm not subscribed to any kits, I buy curated kits from a German company whenever I like at least 3/4 of a kit, I buy paper products I like, in physical or digital form, when I feel they suit a project I'm working on, I rarely buy complete collections, because I don't like bulky pages). The problem I had is that for some layouts I remember a specific paper or embellishment and go digging anyway... My current approach is a bit different. I have 2 different types of journals / albums. There's the "common" scrapbooking, that's one album for my layouts and one album for my memory planner. Here I go on the hunt, which for me is part of the fun. The second type are longer running projects (currently OLW, year in selfies 2023 , my nature and reading journals) and specific project albums (currently a travel album, an album about my parents' 80th birthday and one for a job-training away from home before Covid hit). For these I use either a specific kit or colour scheme, something that unifies the album or some elements that repeat. They get their own Din A 4 or 5 zipper pouches with everything I need for the project. I even add to the journal pouches whenever I think some new paper or embellishment matches. The project albums usually have a page with notes, for colour schemes, layout ideas, tools like dies, stamps, punches and general information on products I use. This way I can put a project aside without losing ideas or product I have allocated to a specific album / journal. I will say that for the long running projects I'm more and more switching to digital products, I found after 6 years of keeping a reading yournal and my fourth year of nature journaling that some physical products simply aren't available anymore. I look forward to seeing your approach.
Thank you so much for sharing! Pouches are so wonderful. I love that idea as well. You have a wonderful approach and it is always so helpful when we find something that works for us. I love that you do nature journaling! That sounds fantastic. Thank you for sharing your projects- some are so new to me- I will have to check it out. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated!!
@@hollydevore you're welcome. I nowadays live in a rural community of working farms. We used to live in cities and even after more than 20 years in the countryside I am endlessly fascinated by the changes I can so easily observe. I have a lot of photos, so a nature journal was the logical result. ;)
What a beautiful quote. I hear ya with the last few years being difficult. I’m feeling it more now. It’s I’ve been running on adrenaline and only now feeling all the feelings. It’s good to hear you’re starting to feel better and more yourself.
I am just in the process of purging supplies that I know I’ll never use and then I plan also to have a scrap box to simplify the process. It’s a great idea. You can definitely get overwhelmed and paralyzed if you have too many choices 😊
I’m not into intricate layouts at this point in my life either. I like to keep it simple and get my memories in albums! Love your style and can’t wait to see the albums you make in 2023.
Hi Holly. I really enjoyed your PL style and album very much. I’m looking forward to seeing more as you progress throughout the year. I also enjoy PL and documenting our family life. Four children and eleven grandchildren make for busy albums. I always get behind, but don’t mind as I enjoy the process not the race.
