My I ask you on which TV/Monitor are you playing the first Castlevania? Are you playing it on original hardware or emulator? Have you noticed how the face and hands of the zombies are blue rather than purple or a shade of it? Many more sprites are affected by this chromatic difference like skeletons, bone pillars, ghosts, Death, Mummies, the Creature, spear/axe knight, ecc. I'm trying to understand why this happen and a way to replicate it, maybe trough a .pal file for emulator. I've also noticed you are playing the NTSC version of the game on a PAL NES because the HUD gets bugged
I think the remaster looks worse, the fog in the original really sells the atmosphere of the games. Now you can see the whole stage which makes it feel less immersive. It feels like playing Gary’s mod or something.
I'd have to go with Xbox versions because the PS2 couldn't handle Blade in his trench coat for some reason that was a pet peeve of mine the little things
