I think this device can be improved, it makes the dogs wait a bit too long, they want to go again faster than that, just like a human would do it rather than the machine.
Malinda Walton the cat would put the dog in it to see what would happen.cat would be thinking,"hhhhmmmmm, well, that's the end of that, nothing else here to do except lay in this nice, comfy bed where the dog used to sleep"
When u play fetch with them do they bring it all the way back to u and put it exactly where u want it( I.e. In ur hand or at ur feet) or do they just toss it in ur general direction and run back out to spot for it?
With my girls one is extremely OCD about the ball and she will just swing by and throw it at us but we make her come back and bring it to our feet we use a chuck it of course 😉 and it doesn't matter how many times we have to make her do it we don't budge and she gets the point so it has taken a long Time to get her to be consistent, the other Gert is OCD on the ball too but is a lot more focused on us and what we want from her so she can have the ball, she has a boatload of tricks she does because of that focus, she will put the ball in my hand or anywhere I specify really. So she picked up on putting the ball in the bucket the quickest. I would suggest first working on one or both of them at bringing the ball to ur hand but start out a fetch session as u normally do and get some energy out of them first, tired herding dogs can focus better when their brains aren't spinning like a crack head full of energy! Then give them the simple command like "hand" and kneel down and hold ur hand out just a few inches off the ground. Work on getting them to put the ball in ur hand and whenever they make contact lots of praise and toss the ball directly to the one who did it. If they can't focus on u when they are together playing fetch( to into the competition between themselves) then work on it with one of them without the other being present. This will basically give them the training to pay attention and put the ball where u want it. Then u can translate it over to the bucket on the GoDogGo. Just fyi Gert is the one who always puts it in the bucket and Indie is the one who makes them take rest breaks. They will use their GoDogGo for 13+ hours if we leave it on for them!
Actually we have 4 dogs the last one is an old man and doesn't fetch, and all of them are trained to go to the bathroom in a specific part of the yard.
skibubb1618 I just got a 10 yr old bichon shitzu yesterday and am training him to go in the outside poop pen like i trained my doberman, the BS is doing really well! that way i keep my yard looking nice.
+skibubb1618 I got a chuckle out of the ol' boy in the video. At one point he just lifts his head up off the ground looking at the younger ones as if he was thinking "Keep it down you young punks! Trying to get some sleep over here!"
