Hows everything going so far? Looks like its been a month any update would be great. Im looking to get into this myself. Thanks for sharing the journey. God Bless.
Hey Matt, did you ever figure the B&M situation out? I am in a similar situation. I am converting my 78 from a 4 speed to a TH400. I am at the point of figuring out a cable. I have the same quicksilver console 80688 and I have the 35498 brackets/shift lever. I do not have a cable yet. I am not sure whether I should buy the factory cable and do my best to cut a hole for the ring bracket and boot that comes with the factory cable or buy a B&M cable. If you were able to make the B&M option work, the whole location on the B&M bracket that you used with be very helpful since I am in the same situation you were with the instructions. If you ended up sticking with the factory cable or bought a factory cable replacement, knowing that was the end option that you were left with would be very helpful as well. Thank you.
Great video! I was curious about insurance. What company did you go with? So far every company ive spoke with don’t cover renting the trailers to the public. Any thoughts on this and maybe an estimate? Thanks!
I sure wish I could have seen the removal of old starter and the installation of new one. The connection cable from the starter solenoid. I forgot to take pictures of the starter solenoid before I took it off. The battery terminal the red cable and the wires with the fuse hanging from it. The other terminal to starter. I'm lost here. Need a visual of it. Is the starter cable mixed in the wiring harness, ignition switch wiring, ground wiring all connected to the starter? Any help with this biggest purchase mistake I've ever made. It's a Lemon through and through. It sure would be nice to get a visual picture here like in yesterday here! ASAP!
If you have a tablet you might look into a digital contract form that the customer can sign on the tablet, and then you could email them a receipt. That should also let you do card based payments through Square or something similar.
I just bought a car trailer for 1750. I just turned 18 and ready to start a rental business. Love to see you documenting every step. Don’t be scared to post failures. Keep up the good work!
I used all B&M products on my 85 Camaro and it worked great. The stock cable and brackets on my car are very worn to the point that I had to hack them on there. This B&M shifter is actually made to use stock parts but mine aren't in good enough shape. If I can get the B&M parts to work, I would prefer to use those. My only other option would be to buy all new stock parts so everything is tight and fits correctly.
Yes. And because I was yanking it as hard as I could and the tractor tires were coming off the ground. The tractor was much, much too small to move that heavy truck.
Mine didn't come with them either. I bought them right from Summit where I got the shifter. I don't have the packaging anymore with part numbers. If you call them, they can hook you up. I think I paid $15 per switch.
Hey buddy glad i found this video. do you remember where you ordered the new intake from I have same mower mine melted and done the same I'm trying to fix it asap thanks

Hi Matt. I am one of the managers of this auction. I just came across this video today. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like this was filmed in winter which is the ultimate battery killer. Our jumping batteries ABSOLUTELY should have been charged. I will address that. How would you feel about making a followup video with me and I can answer some of those questions?
We have a lot of these trucks in our fleet and every time this code comes up, the dosing valve has been the problem. It seems to be injecting too much DEF. The trucks really smoke badly when doing a regen. I'm doing a dosing pump tonight and those usually leak externally. I just did another one recently that was also leaking externally.
Mine did not go through the carpet. I'm not sure if my carpet is factory, but the carpet doesn't extend under the rear seats where the bottom of the belt is anchored.
I have this same dolly which I use to tow cargo vans. You simply cannot make sharp turns with this dolly, since the platter only moves a few degrees. You can unlock the steering column and that helps, but if you turn too tight it will slamm the rear of the towing vehicle asideways and rip the tires off the rims.
Haha Yes I know what you mean! I've had a few scary moments, especially when that big F350 pushed my little Explorer off the driveway. When the truck is up and running, it'll be pulling my 50' Kaufman wedge trailer.
I have the same explorer. When I left florida to come back up north I tried renting a trailer from Uhaul and they refused the rental because of "transmission liability" and lawsuits. So I bought a 15' trailer, loaded it down and made the trip. Since then I've pulled that same trailer loaded down numerous times, multiple vehicles on car dollies and so on and it's been a trooper and doesn't leak a drop of anything.
I've done a lot of these harasses but all with the lifts. It's just as doable without the lift but just dirtier work laying on a creeper. The lifts are only for those harnesses and clutch jobs. I do everything else on my back normally.
I had to find out the hard way about what cable to use with this shifter. B and M could give you a .little more info, I called Summit and the sales guy didn't know either until he looked it up. The quicksilver console model only uses GM cables and all other B&M shifters use B&M cables and linkage pieces. Did not know you used 2 micro switches either until I saw it on this channel, so it took 2 orders from Summit to get this figured out because they don't tell you that either. Fortunately yours had been modified and you had all the pieces to make it work. Thanks
Yes it was a bit of research to figure out how it all hooks up. I made phone calls and checked out videos and forums until I understood what was going on. I don't get to work on it as much as I like so I was mixed up thinking my power window wiring was the reverse and neutral safety wires.
Yes, I haven't got to work on it as much as I planned, but those wires are prefect for your flatbed lights. You will need that different type flasher relay or you'll have the dash telling you the lights are burned out.
It would appear that the guy in the beginning was cooked and ate. Now the others are hiding texting loved ones letting them know they probably wont be home for dinner. Seemed pretty clear to me

Ospho is the rust inhibitor that you are talking about. It works. We used it when we used it on offshore drilling rigs. It stops the rust and you can paint over it.
Nice install Matt. My name is Matt too. Two Matt's don't make a Mike. No sir! '04 C5 Vette, automatic transmission with too much slop in the shifter handle while in drive. I probably need shifter cable bushings which are plastic ofcourse instead of brass or something. My first cool car when I was 17 was an '83 Camaro with an 305 V8 and 700r4 auto trans. with overdrive.
@@RepairMatt1983 I would pick up a base model if you like to cruise around, or get a Z06 if you want to go a little faster with a stiffer ride and fixed roof; compared to the base's removable targa top and better powered air-boltsered sport seats and more reliable LS1 to the LS6 (bad factory valve springs, change them on the LS6 and your good). The C5 this year has been modded with a cold air intake, Michigan Motorsports BTR stage 1 cam kit with titanium retainers, dual valve springs, Johnson slow leak hydraulic lifters (engine sounds like a sewing machine now), Kooks headers, catted x-pipe and mid pipe all black cerakoted to a cheap stainless steel exhaust I got off eBay. Tuned to around 418hp on HP Tuners. Kind of quick for a little fiberglass 2 seater. I have raced and won a few and lost a couple so far just cruising around. It's pretty too being torch red with red sport seats, red carpet, both roofs (color matched painted roof and smoked glass) and chrome Z06 wheels. Lots of new supension parts and other parts that came off during the cam swap and were replaced because they were so easy to get to). Fun times from a car I picked up at a small local carlot for about $13K back in '21. Get one once or forever hold your peace.
Yes I'm hoping to go to a 700R4 one day. I want to keep it simple but have OD. I have a 4.10 gear in the rear, which is going to be pretty bad with the Turbo 350. I bet your 81 will be pretty sick with the LS.
Fixing to do a LS swap on my 80Z, Just curious why you want a 700 with your Ls swap. I do LS swaps and build performance transmission. If you need help with questions just ask me. Thats a wrong combo. I got some swap vids on my channel if that helps.
