i don't get it, does she know you as her son? and like, i noticed also people with these memory forget conditions also don't react much. so do they know they have Alzheimers or dementia
my mother passed away 12 years ago. One of the saddess memory I have is when she asked me how many kids she had. Luckyly a nurse came into her room before I could answer. So sad to see this lovely lady...

Ah. I'm sorry. That is a difficult experience. All I can say is be gentle with yourself. Do your best to limit expectations. The disease takes over and there is nothing you can do about it. Do your best to just enjoy the time together, with no expectations.

This is interesting. But for people watching this: Be careful not to shame someone with Alzheimer's. This man is shaming her, although he certainly didn't intend to, he loves her. But Instead of asking, "how old are you?" and waiting, embarrassing her....just answer for her, when it's obvious she doesn't know. This is actually not a good example of conversing with someone with Alzheimer's.
