Welcome to my BookTube channel! I post every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday with some RU-vid Shorts in between! I love reading in general, everything from reading Fantasy and SciFi, to Memoirs and Literary Fiction! There isn't a genre I won't dabble in.
I post every Sunday and Thursday! A sometimes a bonus video in between! Once a month I do the Indie Author Showcase talking about upcoming Indie books releasing the following month!
If you are a self published author please submit to me the name, cover, synopsis, and release date of your books to my email, so I can get your book into a video!
I am the self professed 📚 Daddy of RU-vid because I am a new Dad! SO come join the family and let's talk books!
Agree with you on The Bullet Swallower. May I suggest Rudy Ruiz 1. The Resurrection ... 2. Valley of .... Margaret Pinard wrote The Kerning (Book 1 of 3) and at one point, I was crying and pulled up Google I had to know the outcome. She has written so well the story and historical portion I thought they were real people.
Too late, I already read it and loved it. 😅 I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to everyone, though. And it definitely doesn’t need to be in school libraries. I’m okay with it existing, but it is definitely not for kids or even teens. I think that’s the distinction that a lot of people don’t seem to understand when they get upset over the recent ‘book bans’. It’s not ‘banning’ to try keep inappropriate books out of the hands of children. Some things just aren’t appropriate for children to be exposed to. The problem nowadays is that there are so many things (including books) specifically made for and marketed towards children that are NOT actually appropriate for them. At least American Psycho was always understood to be a book for adults and wasn’t ever intended for or marketed to kids; I don’t think anyone would really have issues with school libraries not carrying that book. The books in question in schools now are mostly p0litical pr0paganda specifically aimed at children. No one is complaining about American Psycho being ‘banned’ for not being in schools, they’re mad that a lot of people are taking issue with their p0litical and s3xual books that are specifically aimed at kids. I’m actually far more okay with things like American Psycho existing than the existence of things like Genderqueer and This Book Is Gay, because the purpose of American Psycho wasn’t explicitly to manipulate the developing minds of vulnerable young people like those other books were clearly intended to. I don’t think that kids should be exposed to p0litical pr0paganda. They don’t need instruction manuals on sx when they are too young to even legally do it. The fact that there are people going out of their way to expose kids to s3xual and p0litical stuff under the guise of children’s books is far more disgusting than a book like American Psycho aimed at adults, IMO.
@@GrahamMatthewsReviews now I’m thinking of my own pride month recommendations! Though in Manchester pride month isn’t really till august. We should just take the whole summer, perhaps
Love your picks for the month, and your prompt 🥰 If you're reread House in the Gerulean Sea, I have to add it to my list. The synopsis seem interesting -- especially the satan reincarnation 😂 I have a lot of books for this month, they're (mostly) physical books. The one I'm most excited about is Ali Hazelwood's Not in Love (soon to be released in a week or so!!)
Thank you!!! Honestly you can't go wrong with Any book by TJ Klune! So definitely add it to your TBR! 😀 I still haven't read an Ali Hazelwood book yet! But we do own Bride so I will read it soon! 😅
That's so interesting that she wrote a gender swapped Twilight story. I always think things like that are fun and can highlight important thoughts. Yesss, Addie LaRue! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I love the beautiful copy you have. Congrats to the giveaway winners!
If I was going to read one it would be Atlas Creed; however, I will have to be in the right frame of mind. Two Indie authors that have BookTube channels, which is how I came across them are Margaret Pinard -- I've read three & have two to read ( spacing them out). Taylor Ann Wright her first Venture Below -- I'm patiently waiting for her second.
Wait but why did you kick your doggo away. I gotta click away now 😩 just kidding 😂 but keep him on there next time. DOGGO TAX. I'm so excited to read life & death because it's definitely childhood. I also like that the ending more since I felt like... the fourth book was unnaturally long 😭 I wasn't into it at all. Though since they have the gender swapped, the fourth book wouldn't have really worked because anatomy. ✨ But also I felt like the end where it was just like "oh it was all a vision" wasn't my favorite. Took away a lot of the emotional roller coaster I felt. LOL wait until you start building gundams. My husband has way too many kits at home here 😭We're fighting over shelf space HAHA.
It was soooo late at night and she was SPREAD 🦅 the camera, and I'm not going to subject everyone to watching my dog clean herself 🤣 But next time for sure! I am Soooo tempted to buy a Kit already. 😅 Oh to be a nerd who loves having hobbies 🤣
That animation update, I see you 😍 I've been really into video editting since starting my YT so I can't help but notice is when you pop them in 🥰 I love this video! Especially for showcasing smaller authors. Armitage sounds dark, and gives crime vibes and it's the kind of book I feel like I'll enjoy. I might check out -- wouldn't know about it if you didn't highlight it! But why is the cover Mask of the Miscam look like a fully grown big boy Puss in Boots 😭🤣
Editing has been the fun part of RU-vid for me as well! (and most time consuming 😅) So thanks for the compliment! Haha and I didn't even think of Puss in Boots, it actually makes me want to read it EVEN MORE! 😂
Love your indie author showcase!! I having multi-POV is so interesting. When I read and I see the character interactions, especially in very intense moments, I always want that multi-POV! So hearing that this book has that is great! I might check it out 🥰
You hit the nail on the head with your comments on Life and Death! So interesting how our perceptions change because of the gender swap when the rest of the book is basically identical. I’m still Team Edward but I love that you’re Team Edythe hahaha
I read Jurassic Park for the first time recently and went into it with no expectations but a little intimidation as sci-fi is not my typical genre...this book is so so good and totally worth the read! I always have fun discovering the differences between movies and books. Michael Crichton has easily become one of my top authors 📚 definitely put this at the top of your reading list, you won't regret it
Thrift stores are always what get me. I, at this point, have "book months" and "no book months" and haven't bought a book since March... but June's coming up, and June is a book month, so my TBR will be exploding again shortly.
"Fingerspeak" reminded me of a book I read earlier in the year called Winter's Myths by Gage Greenwood which follows a man and his daughters as they try to survive in a strange and wild landscape. One of the skills they employ is communicating using a simplified sign language that involves a lot of tapping of fingers and touching the thumb to certain parts of the hand. It was interesting concept that wasn't explained very well but it was fun to think about nonetheless. I hope the language feels a little more fleshed out in Spidertouch once you get to it!
It’s the first video I’ve watched of yours but I really like how mixed your shelves are. You can clearly see you are into fantasy but you don’t only read stuff like Sanderson and Locke Lamora but also SJM. And you also have some classics :)
Turning every unread in my shelf would be so sad. I have very limited space and so I sell every book that is not 5 Star. So by that nature most of my books are unread 😂
Just got back from hitting the Oro Valley Library Book Sale. (Only bought 4 books.) My total is at 2881; TBR is 2100. I am 74 and haven't really got started on developing a reasonable library. It took me 40 years to accumulate this. I am reading four right now (simo). If I last until I'm 80 I should have 500 more read. If I last until 100 then I'll have a reasonable shot at reading all of these. Have three more Will Durant histories to obtain (good reads all).
Isn't the point of having a library is for them to be unread? At least that's why I have a library. I rarely keep books I've read. I think I have a box of read books that have been dwindled down from about 20 to five. Sorry, I couldn't watch/listen to the video due to the music playing at the same time. It's a me problem. I've put myself on a ban and ended up spending way more money on other hobbies. It was a massive backfire. 🤣 While you were flipping the books around though, which books excited you to read them soon?
🤣🤣🤣 I love this take about the library! Luckily it's just a temporary ban!! And I totally understand. I did make the music slightly louder in this video so that's on me! Books that got me excited, so many I go I want to read that one and that one, but I think I'm most excited to read The Shadow of the Gods! I just love that cover so much!
@@GrahamMatthewsReviews That's one of the things I enjoy about going through the books on my shelves is to spark that urgency of which books to read next. will The Shadow of the Gods be on a June tbr or will it be this weekend? It is a holiday weekend after all. LOL
YOU'RE BANNED 😂 You have so many books!! I just started collecting physical books on my TBR and this is a good reminder I should stop 💀 I live in a small apartment. So I really can't afford to do that space-wise. I have 6 physical TBR (+1 library loan atm... and two pre-order coming in June) so I guess I'll be on a no-buy ban with you EVEN THOUGH I wanted to go to Goodwill and checkout their selection 🥹 Bride was 🔥I loved it, and I'm honestly more excited for the sequel? The banter between the 2 characters that are being set up seems really up my alley.
Trust me it's out of hand! Every time I came home from just being out I would have another book 🤣🤣🤣 I can't wait to read it I have heard nothing but positive things from the book!
I love the visual of flipping the books around to see which ones are unread. Good luck on whittling down your physical TBR!! You've got some good choices on your shelves.
You're going to hate yourself in the morning with this book ban! In five years you'll really regret yourself, owing to inflation. Put these on your computer by Title and Author. Now is the time to get those classics! When you go to the inevitable library book sales bring your computerized list. Now enjoy!
