As already pointed out this was the 1974 race... And... Yes, Weld was dominating the race but broke a left front shock mount entering the pits for his mandatory pit stop... This happened just after mid race... Not with ten to go... Sheesh!
I remember this, i was only a kid. Typical Correlis wrecks himself, then stays in his car with his helmet on like a bitch 😂 to be fair he is only 5 foot 2 110 lbs.
Saw one wreck just like that at the same spot a few years later. Came inches from getting into the turn 4 gate and hitting the wall in the split. Dude was unconscious when he left but turned out ok.
I used to work on cars for the old canon ball series and street stocks that raced there through the 90s. Lotta people say the pure stocks or the 4 cylinder is basically the "same thing" that the street stocks were. I beg to differ XD

Not sure about the HQ since it’s just a VHS upload, no upconverter. I use an elgato vhs to hard drive converter. Then I edit in a Corel graphics software program.
