Hello dr Mike, I’m 16 rn and I want to be in the medical field but I have 3.14 gpa in high school rn. To be clear I dunno what I want to do, I juc picked it coz of the money, I’m pretty average in socializing, I’m so lost what do I do plz help.
I tried to sign up for the email templates a million times but I never got them sent to my email. I keep getting sent the normal newsletter. Can you please help?
Hello, I’m a sophomore in college at UCF, however, I just switched towards pre med. I have no idea what to do for volunteering, clinical experience, and research. Your application is so impressive, how do I start?
I was prepared to hate your take but i actually agree. Gpa is ridiculously overrated, same as the mcat, in admissions. Get the minimum and it doesn't matter since extracurriculars go WAY further once you get to the second phase
Hi Dr. Michael, I had a question on the "Too many volunteer hours, no new responsibilities" portion. I applied this cycle, and continue to work at a clinic as a technician (2000+ hours). I still feel like I make great impact in patients when they feel happy talking to me and I still get occasional complements from doctors saying their patients found me kind and understanding. I don't say this to toot my own horn, but to emphasize that a long-term job still gives me fullfilment. Are you suggesting I abandon the job, to chase a different responsibility?
I applied to West Virginia School of Medicine with 20 hours of volunteer work. I was rejected without an interview invitation. I asked for feedback. They responded by telling me I needed to have at least 100 hours to be considered.
It just depends how your hospital does volunteer hours. My local hospital is very patient interactive. So get those hours if you enjoy the work. Not all volunteer hours are useless!
Hey Michael! I can't seem to locate the 8 "free" AMCAS applications on your website? Would you mind helping to unblur the lines and find where they're located?
Hey! I don't think the video popup for the premed student who was admitted to a top 5 school with an IA appeared on screen when mentioned. Could you share the link for that? Thank you!
Hey Michael! If I missed out doing research during undergrad, is there any other opportunities to get research experience? If not is it possible to get in without it?

Great segment. Facing that reality forces many to take a gap year. Even then working 30 to 40 hours a week forces them to expand the study time to a realistic 6 to 8 months. Thanks you for being so honest.
Awesome thank you for a quality review !! I was wondering what the applicant in the video is doing now. Did he get into any med school after this revision ??
Two weeks left before I start my first quarter as a bruin & I cant help but stress over the academic rigor & activities competition 😬. Hope all goes well. Thanks for the video!
I really wish premed councilers or anybody in general told you these things earlier. Im in my last year and am severely struggling to get good shadowing and clinical experience in order to apply this upcoming cycle..
Do you have any advice for older students with a science background? I have a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in Sports Nutrition from 2003 and just graduated with an M.S. in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics in 2024. I also did a year and a half in an M.S. program in Applied Physiology and Nutrition 20 years ago. So, I have a science background. I have taken many chemistries (and bios) but no physics.. I have taken Biomechanics which is a lil similar. Any advice you'd have would be great!
