Circle dance draws on the rich and diverse traditional dances of many countries, including the Balkans, Greece, Israel, Russia, and France. There is also a growing repertoire of new dances to classical and contemporary music. Dancing in a circle is an ancient tradition common to many cultures for marking special occasions, strengthening community and encouraging togetherness. Circle dances can be gentle and reflective or energetic and lively. Anyone of any age or ability can circle dance.
Hi Cindy! Hi Adrian! Hope that everything is going on OK for you both. I have also done this circle dance with dear Rosey, many years ago. I remember the days when Rosey would say, "We will do this dance to commemorate the little folk!" Rosey always kept us ever so happy! Funnily enough, I have not done this dance yet, in Kris Lee's circle dance group - but then again, Covid has had a part to play in that, and alas, mpox is now evident! Ugh!!!!! Hopefully, I and the rest will do this dance again, one day. Best wishes and take care.
Hi. Thank you so much for putting these videos with choreographies. I used to lead dances years ago and watching the videos helps a lot. Can you remind me of the music title and who plays it? Thanks again.
I'm guessing this was shared from your garden during lockdown. It brings tears to my eyes...the song, your humble, solitary dance...shared for all dancers in kitchens & back yards everywhere ❤
Thank you so much for the dances and for the worki you are doing. I would like to know what is the music for Hanter Dro to be able to buy the mp3 file.
Hi Cindy! Hi Adrian! Happy Christmas to you both! I have done this dance myself, with Kris Lee's Cheltenham Circle Dance (which, sadly, I have not been able to attend recently, due to Covid, alas). I also knew dear Rosey, who sadly passed away two years ago, and I attended loads of her Tewkesbury Circle Dances! Rosey certainly knew how to make everybody happy, at the Tewkesbury Circle Dance. Mind you, that bit where you turn and wave your arms, to mimic the flames. When I did it with Kris, we just simply wiggled our fingers, as we turned. Ah well. Best wishes to you both!
Grand choreography, Adrian. Whose version of the song is this? I've heard many version, including Dave Goulder's own on several occasions, but this one is new to me.
I have done this circle dance, with dear Rosey Fagg (1933-2021) at the (now sadly defunct) Tewkesbury Circle Dance and with Kris Lee, at the Cheltenham Circle Dance. It is a really nice dance to do, especially with candles. Mind you, I prefer the alternate version of the tune that you dance to, because it is so much nicer, and is sung in Medieval French. I don't know who sings it, but thankfully, I have it at home.
