Dear Rupert, it is very hard for me to understand that "happiness is the nature of our being" (min. 19'42"). It is so hard when you have a physical pain. I'd say instead (... with most religions) that life is a valley of tears.

I can relate, I worked in mental health, and I was constantly on edge! I didn't know I had cptsd until leaving the job. Thank you for sharing your story ,. This has helped tremendously. I definately feel less alone .
Nobody has to expand their capacity to receive. Anyone can receive. People are more than happy to acquire something. We don't manifest anything out of thin air. To obtain anything the correct actions have to be taken to acquire whatever it is we desire. Wealthy people are wealthy because they did everything that was required to become wealthy. Desiring wealth doesn't lead to happiness anyway. Wealth doesn't make anyone happy beyond having their needs met. Why is it that people think everything comes down to having stuff or money? None of it means anything. If all of our needs are met and we still want more then we have fallen into greed. The shallowness of this channel is mind boggling. It is sad to think this is peoples idea of being spiritual.
Feeling in the flow and expanded are not prerequisites for having a good day. This idea of manifesting is contrary to coming to a state of permanent peace. To have a lasting peace that doesn't go away is to recognize that we are not in control or the doer of actions and for that to happen we have to give up all of our selfish desires. We have to give up our egotism and recognize that only God is in control. We are simply instruments that God uses. That is what all the saints tell us. As long as we are in control there will never be a lasting peace. In reality nothing is on us. We don't have to carry the weight of existence. Be happy with as little as possible. Live as simple as possible. Before real and lasting peace can be obtained self must be removed from the equation.
No one needs permission to be rich. The reason people aren't rich is because they haven't done what is required to obtain wealth. What creates wealth is having a good education in a field that pays well and then saving and investing part of your income over the course of a lifetime. You don't get rich by feeling like you want to be rich. It all starts with a good education. If you are not qualified for anything other than manual labor don't expect to get rich unless you go to college and get a useful degree. People that have lots of money are high energy people that contribute something the world sees as valuable.
There isn't ultimate happiness. Happiness comes and goes. Contentment comes from being satisfied with what we have. The feeling of lack that people experience comes from the belief that something outside of ourselves can fulfill us.
so nice when multimillionaire academics find the spiritual truth and meaning of sharing! Let's hope he can do like the rest of us, and find the INNER MYSTIC that can share genuine Kindness and compassion! Unfortunately he is criticizing the wrong group! It's his OWN ACADEMIC MILLIONAIRE Group that need to internalize the feelings of 'how can I be of COMPASSIONATE SERVICE", RATHER THAN the people he classically chooses to criticize: the mystics and spiritual seekers who are WAY FAR AHEAD of him, thank you. OK. Please don't feed his establishment ego MORE than what he already is feeding!
