Upcrate Update: ok so I thought I had calculated that this would be my last box but I just got an email that the September one is on the way so I definitely got my maths wrong lol. So I'll be unboxing #61 on the channel next month! Not me making a dramatic farewell intro this month 😅
I really do enjoy all of your videos and love your art, though it is hard for me to join lives (in general, not yours only), for I am the kind of person I need to patrticipate all or nothing, I can't just have it on the back ground (and then it takes too much time off of my daily chores). Also, I could imagine you with the graphite putty with a large canvas just painting a face with your fingers. (why not) I am as much thankful for your patreons as you are, we are all going trough hard times and I wish I will be able to participate one day. I wish you the bestest of the days💞
Oh please don't feel bad!! Honestly appreciate you being here and watching the videos and leaving some feedback 😊 Livestreams definitely aren't for everyone! I think that's a great idea to use the graphite on canvas! I might use brushes though 😅 I hope you have a great day too ☺️
I love all of your paintings here, I don’t think I could pick a favourite! The cotman watercolours are really lovely, especially for a student grade. That set is the one I first bought when I wanted to learn watercolours and I still love it although I’ve had to refill the pans quite a few times now.
This was incredibly fun to watch. I normally don't have enough focus these days (+ limited time) so I don't usually watch the WHOLE length of such videos but the voice over as well as the sped up art matched well together. The commentary was very engaging with less pauses and not many word/sentence repetition! I loved the look through at the end. I've only recently been getting back to ny creative side more and your zine short made me check the channel and yeah, makes me wanna make my own mine zine-esque sketchbook and do some sketches in different styles and mediums kind of like what you did! Really enjoyable watch for sure!
Thank you so much for watching and these incredible comments!! I'm so happy to hear you got some inspiration from my videos 🥹 honestly making the zine has been a game changer for my entire art practice, I've been making them monthly since January and it's really helped me be less 'precious' about the other art I make. Just getting something on the page has value! Really appreciate you taking the time to give me this feedback. Have a great day 😊
When I hear Gina Gershon's name, I think of the movie 'Bound' -- also starring Meg Tilly, talk about a wild ride ♨ Your vlogs and artwork are always inspiring. I'm going to look for my ivory black right now!
Yes!!! That movie is awesome! She sure was in some iconic 90s movies. Thanks so much for your comments ☺️ you kinda forget how many blacks there are until you need a specific one 😄
What a stunning portrait! I think this is the third time I've watched this video, and I'm convinced I want to order the #102 ScrawlrBox. Would you say this bundle was good value for money or should i look at ordering the sheets locally?
Oh gosh I'm so sorry for the late reply!! This somehow ended up in a held for review section??! I think the sheets are great for if you're new to watercolours or want to try new shades - such as these metallics - because you'd probably get more out of half pans or tubes if you mostly use watercolour. Does that make sense 😅 So I guess my short answer would be grab the box if it's still available on the ScrawlrBox site!
Congratulations on 1k subscribers 🥳 This is such a cute little sketchbook you've created. After you've done your tour videos, do you ever return to old sketchbooks to see what you've made in the past?
Thank you!! I do occasionally refer back to my old sketchbooks if there's an idea I have for a new artwork and have sketched it out in the past, but I don't revisit them via RU-vid, if that makes sense!
Wow this is crazy impressive! I have a video coming tomorrow of me filling a sketchbook in 2 days and you’ve put me to shame 😅 my favourites are your acrylic marker pieces, that really is your medium ❤
Love your channel! My Upcrate box also came a bit late (I’m from Moldova), I posted a review on it as well. It’s a weird one but the July box (#59) seems even weirder… Hope to see you play with it as well❤
Hmmm, I just cancelled my Muse box subscription to give Upcrate a go. Have I made a mistake? I guess time will tell. I appreciated being able to watch you try out supplies that you weren’t familiar with. That’s why I wanted an art box subscription- to be exposed to techniques and materials I haven’t tried before. Could you use the pipette to get the orange ink out of the bottle?
Upcrate has definitely been more hit than miss, what I love about it is that I get things that I've NEVER tried before! This one wasn't for me 😅 but that's actually a good idea about the pipette, I think that would actually work really well and I wish if thought of that at the time hahaha thanks for watching and for your feedback ☺️
The pipette is actually for cleaning the pen nib. You submerge it in the water and then use the pipette connected to the nib to move the water up and down and get rid of the ink traces. Pretty cool😅
Love your art style. How some pages are simple and others intricate but both pages are equally as stunning. Also I must say that your hair is luscious! Looks so thick and beautiful!! X
This was a weird box endeed, have watched some videos and most complain. The clips especially seem to be a peculiar extra, since it is a spiral bound sketch book. I have heard a lot of good things about the pen itself though, lately a lot of urban sketchers have recommended it because of the various lines it makes and what I;ve seen it works perfectly for that purpose (maybe the clips were added in thought of windy weathers of urban sketchers?)
I had to buy this exact pen back when I was in university for my Typography class and it is pretty cool! The kind of paper you use is so important for a good end result, since these are super juicy and will bleed 9 times out of 10, it definitely can't have too much texture (unless that's the look the artist is looking for). I think my preferred paper was this "cheaper" draft blocks, the Canson's Sketch ones, that I loved using despite being thiner. The price for this pen hurt my soul and my student wallet though 😅 They could have at least included a full set of colour cartridges or a normal dip calligraphy pen to go with the orange ink! Despite everything your end result ended up pretty cool!! Loved the mouse, so cute 😊
Oooh typography class sounds amazing!! Honestly I think the size of this nib is what's put me off a bit, I don't anticipate me really doing any writing at this scale 😅 I got a glass dip pen in a box a few months ago and I LOVE IT! The orange ink will definitely be used in my collection 😍 Totally agree with you about the paper. Appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching 😊♥️
I'm currently going through your videos while I'm swatching some colour pencils. I know I'm a year late, but thank you for sharing so much about the things you love and inspire you and speaking so openly about what you've gone through. The lockdowns for me weren't so bad at first because I'm naturally a loner, but the second year destroyed me. I was at home with my 4yo the entire time and I don't have family in Melbourne, so it was a very lonely 2 Years for me. I quit my job the previous year (same company you worked for), so I started drawing again for the first time in ages while in lockdown to keep me sane. Anyway, I'm loving these neon skulls, especially the pink one!
I loved your maze and little mouse, and it turned out lovely even though you weren't totally comfortable with the supplies. The colours are really lovely, and I agree that the gradient effect is very cool! The bit at the end with Eko made me lol.
Hahaha my external mic has a fluffy cover and she's OBSESSED with it! She always grabs it in her mouth and tries to run off with it 🙄😂 glad you enjoyed the process!
With all the people who own cats that get these art subscription boxes you would think by now that someone who works at the company would have decided to suggest including a little baggie with a cat treat in it for all the kitties because it looks like they enjoy opening day just as much as we do.
Hahaha that's a great idea! I'd stay subscribed forever! I was actually just having a chat on Instagram with another artist with a cat talking about how much they love unboxing day 😂
It’s weird that they didn’t use an actual blender pencil cause Ive used my Prismacolor blender on polychromos before not that polychromos even need a blender anyways.
