Hello! We are Jacob and Natalie. Along with our four kids, we left our home in Phoenix, Arizona to pursue a more fulfilling life. We are working to develop our raw land in Northern Arizona into our dream off grid, self sufficient home, completely debt free. We work together as a family to build a life with power, water, home, gardens, and more. We hope this journey will teach our family the value of hard work, gratitude, and confidence to reach our goals no matter how big.
Your family makes me smile, such a sweet family, y'all make this content such a joy to watch. Bravo to you all for making your dream come true, such hard work!! I hate that Eli is getting older, lol
Seeing you guys running around on an elevated location surrounded by metal rods buried in the ground while lightning is striking in the distance makes me ask: Jacob, will you be installing a rooftop lightning rod tied to a nice, deeply buried ground rod?
You know, I'm really not sure. I've looked into lightning protection/rods before and did not find enough evidence that it would be worth it. Or maybe I haven't looked in the right places for the right information.
Enjoying your channel we are building in Kingman. I have to say this and please don't take it in any way except for personal experience. My husband has a rock crusher. There was a large rock trying to make its way down the shoot when the vibration from the crusher caused the ro k to fall off of the crusher. The rock hit him in the back of the head and pushed his face into the crusher, crushing the right side of his face he almost died three times and has had over 13 reconstructive surgeries. Please be aware of the dangers, especially around small children. We will continue to watch and support our AZ neighbors . Best wishes.❤
Great job guys. Even though those foam panels are super light weight, I bet the last few felt really heavy. haha. That's a lot of work, but you guys did great!
Its a great day, love to see the kids and their responsibilities/helpfulness, have done a lot on the road coming in, house pad looks great even before the level...foamboard looks good, can't wait to see the next one!!!, loved the hug! Thanks for sharing
Ya'll are doing an incredible job. Truly. I know in reality it's a lot more difficult than the videos show. I subscribe to 50+ RU-vid channels and you are in the top 5. I really enjoy watching your efforts progressing. The prize is coming.....keep it up!!! Luv ya!
Nice progress, a point to think about... between a concrete exterior header and the basement. Concrete that sits on a foam board can break, preferably every 1.5-2 meters. Insert iron rods that penetrate the ground 50-80 cm. Bend and tie to an iron mat.
It is so refreshing to see your kids involved with building your new home. They will treasure the memories for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your story with us. God bless you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🫡
Been looking forward to the start of the build, have followed from the very beginning can’t wait to see the finished results 👍🏴🏴🏴🏴👍
You have an amazing family and you make amazing videos dude I just had one question, if I want to make my own 2x4s and I have my own logs i just cut how long to I have to leave the logs to dry it's been almost 3 months that they've been drying is it about a year I need?
If you know what lumber you need, then you should mill it asap. The smaller the lumber you mill, the sooner it will dry. Now, as far as dry time, it depends. Some people are ok with framing with green lumber. I think it's ok too as long as some sheeting or bracing gets put up so that the 2x4s don't twist on you while they continue to dry. If you want to dry first, I'd say 3 to 6 months seems good for 2x4s. Thanks 🙂
