I make music for my RU-vid channel as a creative outlet, additional resource to SoundCloud, and as a demonstration of my composing and music production skills. Music is a huge deal to me and I'd like to share my love with the world.
The low brass was a MACHINE this year. The sound quality was what won them the ott, my .02. Buttery smooth chords throughout the show that blended nearly perfect. Other groups had stronger and harder books but the sound quality and technique is what won. Congrats to the Bloo crew.
I love listening to this on full volume with my headphones. Its the closest thing I can get to real life. Sadly I wasnt able to see them live this year 😢
I gotta say, putting the camera quality aside, THIS is the best type of audio recording that is amazing for brass lots! It's the type of sound that floods your ears and has bright full tones where you can hear dynamics and individual players, and if it is too loud it HURTS to listen to. All these other videos that claim to have "HD Audio" and "High Quality Audio" always have that same muffled, unclear, closed off sound in their videos and it just never hits the same. This video is one of the examples that makes you FEEL like you are there with the absolute impact of the brass and the way it can literally make a wall of sound that covers everything else! Maybe I'm overthinking it but these "poor camera quality" videos always have the BEST audio as the name implies lol
Brass is so good but if they keep programming shows like they have for the last few years members are gonna go elsewhere. Top five talent with top 12 design.
It’s been the same caption head and core brass staff since 2020 with some really good tech additions since. Definitely looking forward to see what they bring next year with how few hornline age outs they had this year.
@@bigboland6160 but so much low hanging fruit with this year’s theme. You pay all that money for the Coldplay tune that would have been perfect as a ballad.
I find most impressive how well the corps retains their distinct tone profile throughout the years. The Bb chord at 4:14 sounds EXACTLY like 2015 despite being a decade apart
Audio streaming quality is the same at 144p as 4K, as the youtube codec is all the same. Anyways, this stereo recording is so nice and clear on the top end.
Best they've ever sounded, in my opinion. 4th place may have been appropriate given the quality of the top 3, but I think it way undersells how much BAC improved since last year.
@@BluesClues2sI don't think I'd say 4th place was appropriate tbh. Imo Boston sounded second best only to the Blue Devils. But oh well I'm not a judge (although many judges this season did agree with my take and the finals judges switched things up in multiple captions)
This is in my top 3 of phantom regiment canon warm ups. The balance of this particular hornline was really really good, and having the 1st euph’s also play the melody at the beginning is perfect. You can easily hear the canon melody with trumpets and euph’s it’s nice.

Did you use more than one, or was it just a single KM184? Curious how you were able to capture so much sound in that large arc since that mic is so directional.
Stereo spaced pair (2 mics). Cardioids are standard mic type for recording large ensembles. They are directional, but only rear rejection not much side rejection. I may try omnis sometime.
I mean maybe you didn't like it but from a competitive standpoint the show design was far beyond what they've done for the past decade. Just look at their captions. They were amazing in GE which is a huge part of your score
@@joshchambers9922 Yea it helped them but what happened to the marching? it was like 40% of the show and only tubas and drumline were basically the only ones doing it 100% of the show...
Their articulation is incredibly defined and consistent. Their intonation and ensemble tone is phenomenal. I am a very proud alumnus, they should be so proud of what they've done this season. It's not about winning; it's about being fucking great and putting an artistic package on the field.
dymaxion is the hardest thing on the field this summer 💀 the listening environment throughout the entire show is insanely difficult. it's simultaneous demand, they're actually doing multiple things at once instead of sitting on their ass and playing sixteenth notes for five seconds at a time
@@kevinjohnson5210 no but bluecoats are actually writing difficult music that's musical-- all of their stuff you can jam out to, whereas someone like crown this summer sounds like they're playing arban's articulation exercises and clarke studies the whole time
@@kevinjohnson5210dog u have no idea how much of a bitch it is to clean shit like this. It may not be ultra technically impressive (they still have some decent technical excerpts), but ensemble wise they are doing very good.
What in the world are they playing? There is no "recognizable" music....just a series of sounds. The "entertainment" caption is not what it used to be. The crowd doesn't get excited just hearing obscure sounds. If you played something patriotic, it would bring the house down.🎼🎺
I think this more of a you problem... It's okay if you don't like their musical selections but this definitely a strong musical program which they are playing interesting and exciting arrangements of. They're playing music written by established composers and artists, it's okay if you haven't heard it before but I highly recommend checking out the source pieces. Bloo has a great track record of introducing audiences to new and interesting music
lmfao unrecognizable = something i haven't heard. give me a break, what a ridiculous thing to say, especially about a show like this -- even my 60+ year old dad who does not give two shits about drum corps perked up when he heard the bluecoats play foreplay
this really is just a problem on your end. you're lacking basic musical literacy. sorry the only tunes you know are lee greenwood's proud to be an american and the fox news intro theme.
@@echo2121 The group has lots of talent! They can perform more than just sounds, backed up by the drums and the marimbas in the "pit". There is no pit on a football field....only a concert hall. The instruments on the sidelines are generally placed on the back risers of the band or orchestra. There is minimal crowd appeal. Play something Patriotic and you will bring the audience to their feet. And then you wonder why the contest season doesn't draw crowds.
