Hey Vik, ive tried 28mm tires,32mm will not fit, maybe max 30mm if you dont pump it up to the maximum pressure. 28mm fits best on this frame. One of the reasons 32 wouldn't fit is also cause I use a road rim brake calliper, it would just rub on the callipers I think.

I admire your guts son. Cycling alone is not an easy task let alone in oz. Just be careful and God bless, guide and protect you always. 🙂

I am trying to build my own touring bike and I am looking for some old frames. Any recommendations? What frame did you use?

Hey Cindia! For this frame It was a brand new steel bike from LKLM, it was a bit heavy so I ended up switching over to an aluminum frame from Marin, the Marin Gestalt 1. I dont have pictures of it currently. As most true bike lovers would say, any bike can get the job done, its all about how you enjoy yourself. But do take note of the following for your own ease of mind: - Ensure you have enough mounting points (Rear Pannier Rack & front fork mounts) - I would recommend alu or carbon cause touring usually means a lot of climbing, so I tried to keep my weight down as much as I could (saved about 2kg with alu frame and carbon forks) - Disc brakes would be recommended since when touring youll be carrying a heavy load downhill sometimes - keep your load to the bare minimum so those climbs are not too brutal, when I did mine in Aus I brought way too much stuff and underestimated the climbs Despite the troubles I had it was great fun touring for about a little over a week (the longest I can really take off work for now), just remeber to be safe, keep hydrated and keep it fun! Old frames are great cause they do usually have pannier rack mounting points, I think thats crucial. Some older steel frames are great but sometimes they take a bit more work to restore cause they may be a bit rusty/incompatible with readily available parts nowadays. Have fun and good luck! Ride safe always!
