Absolutely love your videos brother! Great work, keep pushing out those videos, will be waiting for the next one! The only thing I might throw out at you, is caution with the angel fish and the horn shark! Compatibility is very questionable, mine just ate the eyes out of my shark, and it eventually died. I would have never guessed that would have happened, they've been together for over a year and then all of a sudden the angel fish attacked!
Hey man, I appreciate it! Im sorry to hear that man, it’s always tough losing our pets, especially such personable ones like a shark. I know I’m playing a dangerous game right now with the angels and the horn shark, I wish I was not so impulsive with fish. Im hoping to eventually (~2years) have appropriate-sized tanks specifically for sharks and rays. These guys have been together for 4 years now with no known issues (knock on wood), largely I would guess due to the shark’s elusiveness among the rocks during the day. Was your shark more active during the day? so strange that they did well together for so long then all of a sudden became incompatible
Reduce your nutrients and algae won’t be such an issue. Especially since you have no corals just run it at zero phosphates. It will be your feeding, not the sun light.
Stunning setup, been following a while now. I've got a 10ft but this is spectacular. One day though 😍😍 you should get thousands of anthias, evansi, dispar, diamond head, longfin and tuka
Love the update and your DIY action! Do your large tangs pick at the silicone around the viewing panels? Also what silicone did you use to seal the panel to the liner?
Thank ya sir! I’ve actually witnessed the tangs pick at the silicone occasionally; however, it seems that it doesn’t have an affect on the integrity of the silicone. Although even if it did I don’t think it would negatively affect the seal as most of it is inaccessible being sandwiched between the acrylic window and gasket, or at least I hope 😬 but the brand I used is called GE Clear Silicone 1
That’s exactly something I need, since this whole fiasco I’ve been looking into options. Something I’ve should have invested a long time ago especially being away so often. Do you use Neptune apex?
Great video, Glad you found the issues!!! That could have been bad. I agree with multiple heaters as they all work together thermostatically. As they say.."Never put all your eggs in one basket"...
Pound Shield is pretty ez to work with. Seal all the seams with marine adhesive or Jb water wield and let cure 24/48 hours. Idk if you need to use a primer but make sure it’s self etching and do not use rust-oleum, it will not bond to the shield correctly.
Keep a femal reef shark in there perfect size. One question and i know it varies from many factors, but what is the price of this build? just to get an idea.
