This show was actually a train wreck. Amazing that it even sounded this good. The Copenhagen show was the next night, and THAT sounded vicious. No pun intended.
Fantastic! I was attending Cal State Long Beach at the time. Flora called the campus radio station from the prison. The person who answered the phone put her on hold and asked if anybody spoke Spanish. I said that I did. Flora spoke English but with an accent. I was thrilled to speak with her when I realized who it was. She wanted to thank the station for playing her music. I said I had the Butterfly Dreams lp and would be happy to leave her message for the DJ - his shift was on another day. I added, "We LOVE your music, Flora! We love you!" She was so thankful.
Do you have any recording of Wayne shorter playing who goes there live? This is all so great and thank you!!!!. I was just curious if he ever played it live recorded that you know of.
Is this the only audio documentation of this band? What an astonishing find. It's special for me because I knew three of these stellar musicians and had heard stories about this tour, but of course never got to experience them live--until now. I wonder why they didn't record in the studio? Maybe they did? Incredible band. Thank You
