“Storrs,CT…the capital of the basketball world”…..Dickie V called it years before they won it all…here we are in 2024 on the cusp of a season in which the Huskies will attempt to win a SEVENTH championship in the last 25ish years and complete a three peat under Hurley.
What an incredible moment of World Series drama. I was a Sox fan but missed it and the entire World Series. Graduated from Boston University (after cutting many classes to catch games at Fenway) in June 1975 and joined the Marines. At Officer Candidate School from early August to early November, there was no access to newspapers, radio or TV. Only bits and pieces of information about the pennant race and the World Series dripped in. Sorry that the Sox lost, but from what I've seen since it was a great series and the Reds deserved their victory.
That was just as dramatic as this one. The reason everyone talks more about this is because it was the game winner. But Carbo's was just as dramatic. I was only in 2nd grade but I remember this like it was yesterday almost. Wish I had been older though.
The yukon team that started this dynasty we have today in 2024. 6 titles in 25 years, Damn thats nearly 1 every 4 years., Dynasty like NE pats or Bama crimson tide. Incredible.
Damn this was Connecticut's first championship ever. They are a blue blood team now like Kansas,Duke,North Carolina, and Kentucky.Connecticut just won back to back NCAA basketball national championship games in the 2023 and 2024 final four tournament that is remarkable. One of college basketball's best teams in college basketball history
Awesome compilation! I was at a few of those games but the one I remember most vividly was the WVU buzzer beater by El-Amin at about 2:10. It wasn’t a very consequential game or anything. Actually as reigning champs it was a little embarrassing to be in that situation against an unranked team, but you don’t get to see that kind of finish in person too many times in your life
Fun fact: one of the camera guys was supposed to follow the hit ball but just as Fisk hit this homer a rat ran by his feet so he just tried to keep it on Fisk as he was looking down and dancing around the rat... and that's how we get the shot of Fisk waving the ball to the right😊
Why this doesn’t get half the attention of the Hill to Laettner buzzer beater I’ll never understand- especially given it was 2 years earlier. Tate was like that - a big guard that inspired my generation to not be confined in the post because of our size. Got a chance to play against him in a league in So Florida when he was probably 37 or 38 - I'd just turned 30. He complimented my game and it was like a gift coming from a great 🌟💯 Tate the Great
I remember that night. And I remember everyone talking about it at school the next day. Huge night for us up here in Connecticut. We all tried to recreate that shot in the gym.
Clock man gave this game to UCONN. No way he made a turn around jumper in less than one second. It was bull malarkey! Clemson could have been the UCONN if the last 30 years not for this 2 second shot! 😂
I was at my cousin's in Somerville, MA, up that night from Storrs, getting ready for a job interview the next day, and all his friends were cheering for Clemson and giving me all kinds of crap with one second left. Revenge is a dish that is best served cold. I come back to watch this every once in a while. It always fills me with joy.
💯🔥👍34 years ago today. Huskies up 30 at halftime in first round of 2024 ncaa tournament. Only 3 big East teams to 8 sec teams in this year’s dance is a joke.
After this I went back to check the rules, which both then and now make the horn & red light the final arbiter. Even in this grainy video you can see the red light (to the rear of the basket) go on only after the ball is released.
