Sadly the band re-wrote the lyrics for this song to better fit in with their woke ideology. Almost certainly the band is vexed ti the gills.

Last time I left a comment was 6 years ago as @WeyounVI. Since I left that comment, both the accordion player, Ken, and the mandolin player Art, have sadly passed away. Since then, "Darby" has retired from playing at the pub. It was an amazing time getting to know these guys over the years, and I hope they all rest peacefully. Miss you guys.

The verse at 2:34 is not heard often and I think adds a bit of a happier ending to the song, even though it's in the middle of it.
