Everything Outdoors 💎 🐍 🐟 🐦 🐺 🌪 🍄 Rest in Piece Mom - December 13, 2023 - Please watch over me on all my travels and adventures. I love and miss you. F*ck Cancer. Support Breast Cancer Awareness. My Mom passed away at the young age of 68 because she didn't know she had cancer until it was too late. It took her in less than 8 weeks. Please, get tested for cancer. It showed absolutely 0 signs until it spread to her lungs and brain. I love you Mom.
I’ve always wanted to go to this or the one in Arizona but I’d rather the thrill of finding my own. I’m so proud when I accidentally find a geode or crystal. Was fishing with my daughter and granddaughter in Kankakee, daughter said stop looking at the rocks and fish. I found 2 geodes, 3 pieces of quartz one rose quartz, and at least 52 small yellow pieces of calcite no bigger than a dime. Adventure is what you make of it. Have fun stay safe.
We went fishing the other day and granddaughter found a painted turtle the size of a quarter, I didn’t even see it on the gravel but she did then she refused to pick it up, afraid it was going to take off her finger she said.😂🤣🤣 I couldn’t stop laughing. She has seen me get a large alligator snapping turtle off the road, she wasn’t having it no matter the size they bite. 😂
Was in traffic in New Lenox and heard them got home and nothing but frogs went to Mazon and they were everywhere. Such a cool sound and walking with a buddy out in the stix highly recommended. Every day is a gift, thanks for sharing your adventures. Some people who are immobile experienced the world right outside their window by watching what you and others download.
Go walk Hoff Road Trailhead while you still have time , it's not nearly as loud as this video (this was a couple weeks ago) but there are still a bunch all down the trail. Just stopped there again yesterday 👍
I always try to get snakes off the road; I think ignorant people run them over on purpose. Heartbroken one day dozens of bull snakes/gopher snakes killed on a very busy two-lane highway, no way to help the situation. Fortunately, a place i know where the salamanders cross just a certain time is lightly travelled. I still used to stop and give them a lift!
@@JimHerbertOutdoors I found your video to be fascinating! What was that large black snake going up the hillside? Thanks for sharing this! I love snakes.
@@JimHerbertOutdoors Fascinating. What a gorgeous snake! I feel very sorry for the birds, though, since they are rapidly declining in numbers already 😞
Wow, you got some great shots. What an awesome one of that huge cottonmouth swallowing it's prey. Love the rough green snakes. They are so cool with the way they move. Glad you got some of the racers. Shows they will not chase after you and attack you like so many people think. Stand their ground yes, but they will not chase you down. Awesome video.
I have always wanted to go there to see these snakes but not brave enough to do so. Thanks for the great video !! What are those really long black ones on the cliffs you were showing? Are those venomous too ?
Oh okay ty, they are good looking ones but I am not going anywhere near them as close as you do …. I think I saw a similar one crossing my trial when I was walking in one of the trails in starved rock park few years ago and it was early in the morning and it went very quick and I didn’t know what kind of snake it was. I was glad I didn’t step on it :)
The very young cottonmouths almost look like copperheads. As they get older, they go from brownish to dark olive green and almost black. Also as they darken in color, it’s harder to see the bands on their bodies.
Great video, calmly stated and informative. I’m from the U.K. and am so envious of the variety of snakes to be seen in the USA, especially all those wonderful cottonmouths on the road. I’m visiting my son in Boston in September and am tempted to visit this road to see the reverse migration. What would be the optimum week to provide the best chance of sightings?
