What are your thoughts regarding her 75th birthday event? Mapemaker:Well aside from the fact she’s been a drug addict most of her life-I still believe she is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Can you say more about her addiction? Well to be honest I thought it was down right pathetic that they actually made a big event out of her 75th birthday. An event where shes slowly wheeled out in her wheel chair with all these pathetic people gather together and celebrating the fact that she had made it to age of 75- especially considering the fact she had been poisoning herself with nicotine most of her life. It was like watching an advertisement for the American cancer association.Whats even more crazier is that they even sell a Dvd of the ridicules event.I’m surprised she went along with such a charade-she a lot smarter than this-I fear she goes along with these things because she feels she owes it to public.
Such a gem of a song, too easily missed in Joni's incredible catalog. Really love this version too, great percussion, Los Lobos are an exceptional "backing band" to La Marisoul
Sky Arts had the whole concern on last night. Video of Los Lobos and La Marisoul singing this really adds to the rythem and carnival. Wonderful! Seal is is also outstanding.
Absolutely love this version of Dreamland by Los Lobos and La Marisoul ~ she has an amazing voice! One of the best songs from Joni's birthday celebration. I was so disappointed this song wasn't aired on the PBS special, and a video version doesn't seem to be available.
La Marisoul has the most wonderful voice, I was so disappointed I couldn’t find anything by her on iTunes 😕 I really hope to hear a LOT more of this and her talented performance
Definitely one of the highlights of the Joni Mitchell 75 tribute. This arrangement featuring Los Lobos with La Marisoul, Xochi Flores and Cesar Castro has made me very curious about the lead vocalist on this recording!
