I'm sure my dad did a lot of this in his younger years. He left Hawick to go to war & ended up in Arbroath but never forgot his roots. We spent many holidays there in the 50's & early 60's but I've never made the Common Riding, may be 2014 will change that.
As a half Teri it's great to hear the songs my father used sing. I will try to be there in 2014 for the BIG celebration. if anybody want to get in touch & keep me up to date with the preperations I'm on macdodd@gmail.com. I live in Arbroath so it's no far tae come. I was in the town (Morrisons) briefly on the 23 Sept this year with my wife & our 4 Siberians as we were at Jedwater caravan parkfor the weekend. we were o'r the border at Hadrians wall.
