@@jtm71 all good bro ! I think the main things were the venue complaining about my lights bc they were shining right in the bartenders face, other than that, it was a fairly easy event bc I’ve DJ’d for them multiple times already & she didn’t have many formalities
I got stiffed $1200 in May for a gig I did for another DJ. It's October and he still says he is gonna pay me. That's why I now do a "Pay before play" policy.
I appreciate you keeping it real about DJ furniture. I love the look of furniture, but something like this is much more versatile, and versatility and budget is a major consideration. I would need three DJ furniture pieces for our events. White, Black, and Wood Grain (for rustic barns), where these you change a scrim. Great video. Keep up the good work, and sorry for finding it so late.
@@StevieRayEntertainme thanks for the response bro ! I agree that your dj booth has to make sense for your clientele & budget, if I did more weddings then maybe dj furniture would make more sense but I still use this dj booth & it’s holding up well for me so far 🙌🏽
@@djchinotsp0422 that’s definitely the right thing to do bro, I’m sorry you had to learn the hard way, it seems that some DJ’s always have one story of a client who didn’t end up paying
Man i appreciate you posting this video. Having the opportunity to shadow along with DJ Barr must be awesome. I about to have my first wedding and as hispanic coming from lots of XV, it really is nerve wrecking for me right now and ill be driving 4 hours away from home to the venue.
@@stevenmata3539 ayyy good luck bro !! I’m sure for my first wedding I would’ve done them under those circumstances as well but sheesh that’ll be a long day of travel & in regards to being able to shadow it’s definitely a blessing being able to watch how a wedding is supposed to be from start to finish, if there’s any known good wedding DJ’s in your area be a roadie for them & youll learn a wealth of information
Great job Kev! The MCing was really good and you’ve gained a good level of confidence. Lighting, yeah… get rid of that gig bar look and move to some moving heads, they’re not as expensive as you may think these days. Keep it up brother!
Great gig Kev 🎉. For hecklers I always asked them for their name and then announce their request. That way they feel obliged to dance 😊 and the crowd more often then not stick around on the floor.
@@cyclegurujay2312 lol best believe I definitely thought about singling him out but it was a wedding & I didn’t want the bride to stress but any other event that’s the right thing to do lol
Nice gig. Get some Both IR4 wireless uplights. I have 12 of them. They work great and will solve your problem with cables. I noticed the ape sticks werent on, were they dead? Way too many sirens in the mix 😅
@@jtm71 lmao I blame the sirens on the fact that my favorite DJs are Latin & Caribbean DJs but I understand what you mean about the sirens lol Also will definitely look into both lighting, bc I’m sure I will retire the gig bar very soon
What up Kev..Nice gig log as always...how are those Evox J8s treating you? I recently traded away my Evolve 50s and am looking at getting a pair of these. I love how you evaluate and refelct on these gig logs. My favorite part to be honest! I am tired of seeing 30 min of peoples gig logs of playing the same music we all play. Great video brother and look forward to more!!
@@James.KingHTX yea man I have to try & break it down for all of us to learn & grow, appreciate it bro !! We definitely all play the same music lol but The evox j8s are my favorite dj purchase to date 👌🏽 super easy to transport & perfect amount of sound/bass for the amount of guests that I typically have
always stay professional no matter what, the DJ game is small and word will get around the community if you lash out to the client, I've had this happen multiple times and only once I was never paid
@koproductions8266 yea bro but great work just like I said before it's not easy to please people at times. Especially with the mic just need for you sound more stronger Especially let the feel your energy just like you rock to the song they will follow. And that lady with the mic trust me what ever makes them happy let them just don't break the microphone or break your equipment
@koproductions8266 and touch your equipment because 9 times out of 10 they will fuck it up especially yea you thought that people left because that not there song at times but just keep playing until you find that song they really like and stick with it. But keep up the awesome work... p.s great sign no eating or drinking on the speakers
Great gig log once again Shania Twain hits = Any Man Of Mine or Man I Feel Like A Woman. A good super upbeat country song is Steps 5 6 7 8. Congrats on getting married
Congrats to you and DJ Liv(sorry if I didn't spell it right) on your marriage. I wish you Many many years of happiness health wealth and blessings! 👍💪😀
Just keep your setup simple, dress the lighting stands maybe the speaker stands and no facade. Take a look at my setups. I am in and out in 30 minutes.
I don't like huge booths or facades, it's way too much. I rather be in the corner with an X-stand, I care more about the music and the sound. It looks good but in the end of the day, what matters to the customers is the comfortable and clear sound, the music and the ambiance you bring. Good job over all.
This will become your "everything" speakers, like at the beach, camping, traveling and more! I use it for actual wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and monitor. Says 12 hours but more like 6 to 8 depending on how loud you use them. Still, the best bang for your buck. Meant more for PA and background music than for dancing but you can still use them for a crowd of up to 50 at a backyard party paired with a subwoofer.
Yea man I agree I use this for a home gym & used it last weekend for my own small wedding ceremony, the clarity is not talked about enough for its price point 👌🏽
I have a very similar facade from Rockville that I really like and a custom furniture booth for weddings or anything more upscale. I like both but the custom booth is definitely a lot quicker setup since everything is pre wired
Nice bro ! Since I don’t do as many weddings, I sort of do the opposite as this booth is now my fancy booth and my foldable facade is what I use for smaller more laid back events but if it ever comes to a time where i find myself doing more weddings I’d definitely love to have Dj furniture & rig it up so everything is pre-wired, especially since it’s almost turning into an expectation for wedding DJ’s lol
Dude I love the no food or drinks signs on the speakers. People have a tendency of using the speakers as their personal table. I’ll have to apply that’s sign on mine, great idea!
Lol yea that’s what I was trying to convey that I played too much hip hop at first then got caught up trying to help them with that tribute video then got left with only a few minutes to play as much house as I could & by then they were already requesting Disney music & boy band music 😵💫
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I try to stay sober, but if the boss insists on me having a drink, I will within moderation. It’s funny how they just think you’re a machine and can down alcohol without it affecting the way you play at some point.
Contracts all the time no matter who it is. I require half deposit to secure the date at signing. Balance in full is due 3 weeks before the event. Been doin it that way for 20yrs
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I’m still in the slightly trusting mode where I haven’t been firm in getting paid first. I’m ok with getting paid afterwards in hopes that if I did good, the customer would add a tip. All it will take is for me to get burned one time and that way of thinking will go out the window.
Exactly bro that's the point I was trying to convey as well, that I may be getting too comfortable not getting paid ahead of time & this was almost that time someone dine & dashed, luckily they pulled through though
