A lower-league Alan Shearer, and an absolute club legend, despite only playing 70 games. Poaching tap-ins, powerful headers, long-range thunderbolts, long-range curlers, he had the lot. Hope he's doing well in retirement. My personal memory was an Auto Windscreens Shield game at Colchester where I think Gills won 5-0 or 5-1. Super Bob scored an absolute belter. Might've got a hat-trick actually. Not shown in this clip due to being a Mickey Mouse tournament.
A video of mostly Gills goals rather hides the fact that this was a grim season! I didn't realise how well Chris Pike did.. We do have a better side now, but lacking a 15-20 goal striker
hi there, I'm trying to create a similar history of for my own team barnet, I don't know if you can help me by sending any footage you might have of gillingham vs barnet over the years?
Hi. try this site www.gillinghamfcscrapbook.co.uk/DisplayOpponents.php?Opponents=BARNET It should give you all the Gillingham Barnet highlights I have and you should be able to download them.
I was in the Fulwell end this day. Forgot that Procter missed a penalty, and that he missed a penalty I think the final home game of the season...useless twat. Gary's header though..
One of the best players I ever saw live. His hat trick against bristol city was out of this world. I think bergkamps famous hat trick at Leicester was around the same time, Taylor’s was better by a mile for me. What a player and great time to watch the Gills
I'd like to know too, my dear old grandad (sadly not with us now) supported Gillingham and the 95/96 season video popped up in my recommended videos to watch it reminded me of him. He didnt go to the games just used to follow them from home on the radio, local football programs on the TV. He wasnt a massive football nut but he cared about the club, I remember him having the tape and we used to watch it together. Unf dont know what happened to it now but this tune brings back a lot of good memories so thank you for this video!
even though i live in pompey now. always been a gills fan.started watching when yeo.gibbs hunt were playing.charlie crickmore was like a greyhound.......
Holy s**t! We drew or won every game he scored in, no losses. City game at Wembley was a draw, Penalties is a decider. What a true Legend & I was truly gutted the day he went to City.
I feel privileged to have been a Gills fan (and attended most of the matches) that season. Absolutely incredible - most football fans will never experience a season like that. Didn't enjoy the train journey back from Wrexham though!
Loved them all I was the ball boy against Blackpool, I wouldnt give the ball back as the gordon road told me not too, Dave Bamber came to tell me off Joe Dunne told him not to.....a wonderful day
