Amazon will always screw you. I built a £100,000 per month business and amazon will always finish you and you don't own your customers. They done the same with me and then they brought it into their own brand. NEVER EVER OPEN AN AMAZON BUUSINESS
@@FunnyPuppys not yet unfortunately. We're working with our manufacturer to see if we can get these products CE approved, but found new approvals are needed for every style of product. We'll kick things off in the near future with our best selling V2 7mm Knee sleeves, and if this is enough for Amazon, we'll do the entire range 🙌🏻 I'll keep you updated as things progress 👌🏻
@@JonathanLundy-r4j it's a Sony ZV-E10 with a Sigma 16mm lense. Paid around £500 second hand and it's a fantastic piece of kit 🙌🏻 I'll do a full setup video soon 💪🏼
Thanks very much John. ✅️ Anyone who debates whether Oxygen is valuable enough has zero common sense, just saying!! 🤯 However I understand Your point; "If You try to please everyone, You will end-up pleasing no-one!" - Quoting Sean Cannell, rhymes with RU-vid Channel. ☺️
I'm running a wireless internet service provider company that's subscription based. I learned a lot from this video but I still need funding 😂 and I also use we a lot even though it's just me 😄. We have 10 subscribers, we gain 3+ a months from Aug 2024, the goal is 100 by December. I leave in a small town should I move to a city?
@@simileysadface it's quite a deep question to whether you should move to a city. Would you have more opportunities? Probably, yes. Would it cost more to live, and be more competitive in business? Probably, yes. I suppose it depends on your circumstances. For me I can be located anywhere, where as location based businesses or those that serve an area, it's a much more complex decision
3k per month and prob the stress hat goes with it but everything you do you do for you (almost broke out into that brya adams song then! lol ) or was it driven by you by brian may! :D what im saying is you aint got a boss (apart from the missis). nice doing you rown thing and not having to dance to someone elses tune. Big boy pants tho cos nobodys coming to help if it all starts goign tits up but whats teh worst that can heppen - you get another j o b.... im just starting my own thing up - See where i am in come NYE!
@@dj0men666 you're absolutely right! And with the stress and occasionally wanting to quit, sometimes I need to remind myself of the positives I forget, like the freedom of time etc And best of luck! If you ever need a hand or could use some help, shoot me an email :)
Just subscribed - absolutely fantastic video highlighting the concerns of starting your own business. I've been wfh since covid and the best advice I have for working is having your own little office space at home (assuming you have the capacity to do so). I also sometimes work from my parents place by having a monitor there and a basic setup just to keep things a bit more interesting.
Thank you! I really appreciate your support. Working from home sounds like a luxury but in reality can be quite the challenge. I do just like you, sometimes change it up to avoid staring at the same 4 walls all day 😂
This is a great point; a lot of people get excited about the headline turnover figure, not realising it's not the profit. I've been excited about having gross profit at the end of the year in my own business only to findout from the accountants that we techncally made a loss 🤦♂
@@thefatnav 'Revenue for vanity, profit for sanity' - turnover looks cool, but in reality it's profit that allows growth. We don't make much profit either, as most of it covers my own wage
Leaving a comment in the downstairs... This is a great video mate, the struggle of running a business on your own is real, its nice to hear someone else talk about it, I've been working for myself since 2020 - it doesn't get any easier 😂 but it sounds like you're on the right track, setting boundaries, making time for family and friends, and if therapy works for you as well that's awesome 👍
@@thefatnav thanks man, I really appreciate you taking the time to write this. And you're spot on, it doesn't get easier, but the problems you face change over time 😂 And yeah, I'm getting there finding the balance, but it'll never be easy 😅
The hustle culture of today does make it sound so easy, so fast, so perfect. It's not true. Even my boss that's been in business for 40+ years thinks its easy now because he's seen a instagram post, or heard a podcast. It's always hard and there are always ups and downs. Save for a raining day and don't be so hard on yourself. Do the opposite and go crazy with stress and worry. Love the new vid graphics etc too!
@@dom5673 you're absolutely right! It makes it sound effortless, but it's far from it. And thank you! Trialed a new style of video and it seems to have gone down well :)
So true! All of it! I really like what you said about time & flexibility being an aspect of pay when you own your own business. I never heard that before! But It’s true, I didn’t make as much as a “day job,” but I had lots of time & flexibility. Appreciate you! 👊🏻
I'm working as a software engineer full-time but have just decided to start doing tech consultancy on the side thanks to an ex-employer reaching out with their newly founded company needs tech infrastructure setup and website. Got me thinking maybe I can turn this into a business as a consultant. Of course selling and getting clients will be the biggest challenge. I'm not ready to go full-time like you recommended one shouldn't right away. And you earned a sub since it would be nice to have a friend for me who's in business...
@@mojjammil ah dude you've got this! As long as you set expectations low for the first year or so, and don't quit work to go full time, you'll smash it 🤩🙌🏻
@@Johns_busy thanks. I don't have the guts to go full-time until I figure out how to find international clients since I live in Finland as an expat and don't know Finnish well enough to sell to the locals. I don't even know if tech consultancy is a sustainable business at all. Maybe at least getting a kick-start in own business would encourage me to work on a SaaS project I have been planning to develop for a while anyway as well while awaiting new clients.
Learning that 'just good enough' is all you need most of the time is an important life lesson. If the hard stuff doesn't come easy, the extra effort is unlikely to be worth it. At that point you are heavily to the right on the cahrt of diminishing returns. There isn't enough honesty in society with regards to high achievers. They tend to be obsessive and in possession of certain character traits. For more rounded people to attempt to achieve to this level is unwise.
Fully get a lot of these points. Before I began teaching at the high school I’m at now I did more freelance teaching where I’d be the only foreigner (in Taiwan). Was even lonelier given you can’t really chat to the other people around and the only others are kids. Still looking at how to make my location a positive business thing tbh. Think there’s a business opportunity being a British person in Taiwan.
@@FPLIQ I'm glad these points could resonate with someone else 🙏🏼 very few people speak of the harder parts, and they really do make it tricky. Keep going, you've got this!
I honestly think that 4-5 hours of high quality work a day is the limit for most people. Better to just try to rest and enjoy yourself then to do low quality "busy work" to make yourself feel less guilty but not actually push things forward
Imposter Syndrome affects me like this, even with the limited amount of success and small wins I've had. I didn't know there was even a name/term for it. Some days I can override it. others, like you said, you just need to step back and take a break, the 'fog' just can't be fought through. Tomorrow is always another day to be thankful though...and onwards we go. I think you should be incredibly proud of what you've built John, remember to take the good days with the bad and try not to beat yourself up too much over it. Thanks as always for your upload.
@@chiganuggoo9929 imposters syndrome is a nightmare isn't it! I really appreciate what you've said. I'm way too harsh on myself and struggle to recognise any of my own achievements. We'll get there... One day 🤷🏻♂️
Hi John, found your channel recently and love how honest you are. Your video, "why I struggled to make 10k a month" really inspired me, its refreshing to see videos like yours among the constant unrealistic success videos. I am a professional filmmaker and recently I've been trying to give back to creators/entrepreneurs who inspire me! After watching some of your videos, I believe I can bring your views up with industry-standard editing. May I provide you with a free edit? I've got plenty of examples of my previous edits on my website, which I've linked on my channel. Many thanks, Alex
Hey Alex, thank you for your kind words, I'd be thrilled to have a trial edit done. Do you want to shoot me an email to the one linked in my bio and we'll go from there?
In 2023 I lost everything. I couldn’t get a good job for 6 months and I got a wife and 3 kids. So I started a business and it’s been almost 7 months with it and it has been so hard to get it up and going. I recently partnered with a franchise where they will sell me contract work and I got a few lined up that would more than double my current income but I have called so many places to get a business loan and no one will help. Business is so stressful and lonely.
@@TylerRuhlman business is remarkably stressful and very lonely. I hope things improve and don't forget, you only fail when you quit 💪🏼 all the best Tyler, you've got this
Ah man missed the water bottle. It did get me onto your website and wanting the leopard print knee sleeves though , I don’t even think I lift heavy enough to use them 😂
@@lauralevelsup there's one code left 😅 I won't say it, but just go try all three again 🙌🏻 And ofcourse you do 🤩 them leopard print sleeves are gorgeous
I love your genuine honesty in this video mate, so glad to see you're proactively and positively working on your mental health. I've struggled a lot with mental health issues in the past as well and my mental health isn't great at the moment either, I think that it's been made worse mainly because of all the riots that were going on lately and the overall increase in racism across the UK, it's definitely been affecting me quite a bit. I'm truly wishing you all the best, we've got this! :)
@@Johns_busy and you too mate! 🙌 I’m currently reading a book called ‘101 essays that will change the way you think’ and so far it’s been such an excellent read, I would strongly recommend that you read it, I feel like I’ve honestly gained so much from this one book alone
I love that more and more Men are promoting the 'it's OK to talk about not being OK' movement. I honestly feel if this had been the accepted norm years earlier, then so many lives could have been saved. Yes, it really is that serious. I've lost 3 friends to suicide. A little piece of me was lost each time. In each case they felt they couldn't reach out to family or friends with their chosen ending coming out of nowhere, having spoken to them only a day or week before and me believing they were in pretty good spirits. I've struggled in the past, been prescribed the usual and at it's extreme was suggested electric shock therapy at the specialist psychotherapy ward of my local hospital. It was a long road back but I made it. I made it. Listening to you say that if you hadn't got help we might not be watching this video today... we all know what that means...that hit hard. If I hadn't sought help I wouldn't be writing this rambling reply. Thanks again John. Wishing all success to you.
@@chiganuggoo9929 you're absolutely right. It's horrible to see people in such pain they think the easiest way to stop it is to end it. And I get it, I really can relate, but hopefully videos like these encourage more people to try find help 🫶🏼 I really hope things improve, it sounds like they are and that's so exciting to hear, even as a complete stranger. You've got this 💪🏼
Subs coming along nicely now ! Almost at half a century and they will keep snowballing for you i hope 👍 reckon ul get there by October if you keep putting out content. Good vid 👍
Hi John, I really like Your Channel, however please be aware for future ref, Richard Branson is very bad news and was linked with Evil Jeffrey Epstein’s island in Survivor’s news reports!! 😳 I mean no disrespect to You John, I was hesitant to tell You and I understand if You delete my comment, however I needed to tell You so You don’t mention him again! I didn’t know about this until this was commented on another business channel, then I checked the news (not social media) which confirmed this & other reports! Very Sorry. 🥺
@Johns_busy Thanks very much for your kind reply John. I was really shocked by the news, ITV News ran the main news story and I know they're not a tabloid! He has denied any involvement & apparently has no recollection of the reported abuse!! 🤯 I really appreciate Your understanding, I was very hesitant to mention as it's such a horrible subject, however I respect You and I understood You weren't aware of this. Best Wishes, Amanda
I think your channel has good content from what I’ve seen so far. It feels honest and insightful. I’ll be slowly go through your videos when I get time. Found you through your dark side of business video btw.
Just what I needed John, LOVE THIS!! And thanks for taking the BS out of this. I so want to try my hand at an idea. It's a product I know sells, the company I work for are discontinuing it to move in another direction but we've sold 60k worth in the last few years without trying, without ads, without keeping good stocks. I need to knuckle down and just start... and wait... and learn. Love your content, have an awesome weekend!
It sounds like you've found a winner! And maybe the company is discontinuing it to focus on more profitable products, this definitely doesn't mean this won't work, but as you've said it's proven to! Give it your best shot, take your time and you've got this :)
Looking in good spirits today John, many thanks for the video, you have a real knack for explaining everything in plain language rather than the usual word soup trap many other youtubers fall into. You make it sound so easy and are such an inspiration - 'I didn't know WHAT I was doing, I just knew I WAS doing'. The secret sauce right there to everyone procrastinating or pondering starting their own business.
@@chiganuggoo9929 thanks dude! Really appreciate your generous compliments 🙌🏻 And yeah, I'm sick of people rambling with buziness buzz words, and I'm a big believer in 'if you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it' - that could have been Einstein if I remember correctly
@@Dragoon77 thank you ever so much! I just want to see that I'm very much a normal person, and managed to see some success. Thank you for your support 🤩
You're absolutely right. And even then I can be a terrible boss to myself. I've had to separate the 'employee' role and 'Owner' to allow myself to remove some stress and improve my mental health
