Having been young, dumb and stupid, i have had the chance to drive (my former boss' ) a proper GTV before... First car that made my eyes go into the back of the sockets upon accellerating hArD!... and this.. this isn't quite what i experienced going full throttle with limited wheelspin from 0-100, then again, he might have had the 3.2 V6 with the facelifted Pininfarina body. En route to filling it up i overtook a slow driver in rainy road conditions and spun the fronts in 3d whilst doing it, craziest car i ever drove. Just glad it didn't kill me. Wishing you many happy miles!!
Thank’s for your comment. The acceleration you see here is not full throttle, I remeber it more like 70%. Beeing a but carefull. My brother made this clip becouse I wanted to hear what the car sounded like when accelerating. The car drove fine, the engine was great, it felt pretty fast and I loved it. However, for todays standards it’s not that powerfull. 👍
I have a first gen 2003 Prius. Installed a Thorton power chip. And according to the shops Dyno it puts out 141 horsepower now. Compared to the factory 104 horsepower. Got into the computer with my laptop and turned off all traction controls. It's a sports car now. I don't care what you say. My daily driver was a 1977 F150 4x4. Before the power chip 0 to 60 was 11 seconds. Now it does 0 to 90 in 10 seconds. My mileage went down from 35 miles to the gallon to 30 miles to the gallon when I started lead footing at around. But it's still better than 8 to 10 miles to the gallon for my F-150. It's my first beater car considering it's almost all plastic. I know it's not going to last.
Bullshit... Thorton "performance" chips or other brands ARE ALL SCAMS. In essence, they are all scams. The principle of connecting a component to the ODB makes it IMPOSSIBLE to modify the mapping of the ECU. Additional detail: you would have to drive 100 to 200 miles for the integrated chip to "learn" your driving style and finally provide the promised power increase.... What a big joke!
Kinda nice to see similar Prius that I own in Nordschleife. But yeah, even after a week of owning the car, I know that A/C is run DIRECTLY by the hybrid battery, so keeping that window open is pointless.
3:55 my other car passing by Did you leave it in "brake" mode? i find that it helps a lot by simulating engine braking. Also interested to hear if you maxed out the car due to the battery level getting low and disabling the electric motor. I've taken mine on some canyon roads and it's pretty hilarious to keep up with inexperienced drivers driving sports cars. Understeers pretty easily though. A lot of people forget that the Prius is a light car for it's size.
I had it in the normal mode. I noticed that the power decreased a little during the lap, due to lower battery levels I think. The handling is very good indeed! However, the stabilitycontrol is very strict. So you can’t really attack a corner because it will interfere and brake automaticaly. But then again, when you drive well you can really supprise people😅
Definitely smooth. That was well driven, the only thing I’d recommend really is to try heel and toe downshifts, which helps keep the car settled under braking. Unless the pedals aren’t well spaced for it in a Z? I’d like to know as I’m wanting to buy one.
James Wingrove Hello James. At the moment of this movie I was not capable to heel and toe. It found it just too difficult. Later I changed the pedals (made them wider) Now after some practice it works perfect for me. I should upload some of my more recent trackdays😎
JohnRS82 Ahh ok, that’s fair enough mate. I’m wanting to buy a 350z in the next couple of months, is there anything you can tell me that I need to look out for? I want to get a good one that can be used every day, and do a couple of track days?
James Wingrove. A stock 350z (in good technical condition) is allready very good at the racetrack. I only did high-temp brakepads and an oil-cooler (for peace of mind) Then the most important is practice and have fun!
Got to admit that this made me impressed! I was expecting the Prius to make some protest or go in some "limp mode" but it actually made a 10.30 lap, thats soo cool! (my guess is that the driver has a few hundred laps before though...)
The Prius is a great car that really won’t protest. When my 2006 came into my life it had a red triangle of death, cel, and about 7 codes in the computer. Cleaned up the battery terminal and cooling passage of dog hair, and a new 12v battery and it was running good as new. Came to learn the prior service was very minimal. Records indicate it had 7 oil changes in its 200k miles. Found the original air filter and brake pads still on the car. We drove the car from Montana to Tennessee four times in one summer. Would set the cruise at 100 through western Montana and Wyoming and car would never complain. The end came when a timing chain tensioner fell apart during a high rpm turn up a hill and the rattling was just to much to bear. Still runs.
Buy a stage 3, 60 HP Thornton power chip for your Prius. According to my laptop and dyno the engine now puts out 141 horsepower. Take the traction control off and you have a sports car. Remove seats carpet and unnecessary weight out of it. And you have a total sleeper. It's hilarious driving this thing around.
@@mtoutside5248 install a Thornton stage 3 power chip in it. My generation one now puts out 141 horsepower. Plug it into your laptop and take the traction control off. Your 2006 may have a manual button for that the 2001 first gen don't. This little thing does 11 ft burnouts. And has zero trouble keeping ahead of merging cars on the on-ramp. You should see the surprise look in their face as they fade away in my rear view mirror.
