My perception about the musical part only It starts like it's gonna be a mediocre remake of a thousand dance music in one piece of music. In few seconds , it gains a Life of its own , a dna of its own , a body of its own. The voice really reminds me Daniel's voice at his very best (he probably never had a bad vocal period). Everything is surprisingly BEAUTIFUL. From familiar to weird then from haunting to beautiful. Thank you so much Mr Ben Gilles.
The last few minutes of this at the Melbourne Park performance honestly kicks the sh*t out of most heavy rock. I have watched it so many times. Those drums are like shotgun blasts.
Hey Ben! Thanks for your Videos! Silverchair was and is one of my favourite Bands. You were my Heroes in my youth! I’m playing the Drums, and your playing was the most influential for me! You’re serving the music, and all your fills and musical ideas are so perfect, in every song! Is there a possibility to post the Silverchair Tracks minus drums to playalong for drummers? I hope one day Silverchair reunites and comes back! Love you guys!
Only recently found this band and this song is by far my favorite that I’ve heard so far. So well written. Drums and the vocals are massive and create the whole vibe of the song for me. So fkn good. What a legacy.
Dude! The very first song I learned to play was Anthem for the year 2000. Now I'm not saying I play it 100% correctly and my timing sucks but it'll always be my first song.
I was 15 years old when Frogstomp was playing (I'm 43 now) on the charts and I spent a good part of my adolescence listening to you guys. Nowadays I play drums as a hobby and for sure one of the guys who made me hit my leg with my hand trying to keep up with the music is you.Seeing yourself that much older still playing these remarkable songs is awesome!! Congratulations Ben!!
It has always been a dream of mine to have a band and tour the world. We could go only as far as having sort of a Silverchair tribute band back in the 2000's tho. It brings tears to my eyes seeing how much this guy loves what he does, what he did and how proud he is of the bands' development since the beginning. This is really something. Thank you.
Idk if you read your comments Ben but way back when I was 13 years old my buddy convinced me we were starting a band...so I bought a drum set. We covered just about every Silverchair song we could muster and I always tell people you taught me how to play drums. Thanks bro!
This is a killer track with great drums. One of the reason Daniel's solo stuff has never sounded as good as the Silverchair material is def because of the chemistry these guys had as a band. The whole was just larger than the sum of all parts.
I remember seeing silverchair in Boston playing with Local H it was sept.3 1995 Ben, you threw out your drumstick and I caught it and shoved it down my pants. That way no one would get it. I remember seeing how hard you hit your drums the stick looked banged up to the core... What a sweet bday present. This was at the "Paradise" my gf through her bra on stage, now that was not so necessary 😅
Saw you guys in Jindabyne mid 90's whilst working down there. Man i miss those days. Smashing Pumpkins and Green day were all the rage, and then we had this young Aussie band that just killed it. Should be so proud of the music you guys pumped out.❤
Always listen to this song on Far Away Stables. Love the hat groove. Wish I could have seen Silverchair play with a full Orchestra. Big shout out from Hobart
Amazing to hear the commentary on how a pro drummer thinks/creates beats for a song. I wish more popular drummers would do something like this. Until then I’ll just have to listen to one of my favorite drummers from one of my favorite bands instead 😜
Thank you Ben for this channel! Being a drummer and Silverchair fan, I never realized how articulate you are about not only your drumming but the understanding how the drums complement a song, whether that may be fast, slow, waltz, swing, ect. Nice job!!
