I did buy the book but it is hard for me to find the audio video here in Sweden. I am planning to go to Ireland and buy everything about Sinéad there but in the meantime. I am content to listen this part and read the book from time to time. Thank you for posting.

I've always been the same, done the same. Being true to oneself & others. Yet always being disliked for it by the masses. I know what she went through in this regards & it's a constant uphill task & journey. The thing is, it's now partly why she's been hugely respected, though it's too late for her. She was let down by the masses, thought of as strange by the messes. Now the masses are trying to come out in support of her. It shows just how screwed up people can be & I'm wondering if she felt exactly this before leaving us.
She was perceptive, brave & honest enough to feel it yes. I just watched an Alice Cooper interview. He is exactly like her. He made a comment that ppl “just don’t want to give up their ‘god-ship’”

I've been reading and watching documentaries about the Magdalene Laundries in Ireland. The abuse Sinead suffered by her mother was quite common for many girls from these institutions run by Roman Catholic orders. The abuse is is quite similar. It leaves me wondering if her mother lived or perhaps even raised from a young child at one of these places. I'm certainly NOT excusing her mom's abuse but it's highly likely that the same abuse was inflicted upon her mother.
Hate begets hate, we need to forgive as I am sure Sinead forgave her mother, who was most likely abused herself. It's no excuse, but sadly true that those who have been abused will themselves become abusers.
Thank you for doing this 💙. I fully get why you want people to listen to her story. I bought the book as an audio and have been playing it again and again, her "most important song", because of so many things I could relate to personally, but also, still having her voice narrating her own story felt like holding her for a little bit longer; it's maybe helpful for those who feel they need to cope and need closure. Sinéad meant a so much to many people, made a huge impact in this world. To me, she also is the melodious, tender, fragile, angry and hurt voice of Ireland, and I have the impression, Eire is realising this...finally...
Thank you so much for your comment. The world was so lucky to have her in so many ways. I feel that hearing her speak on her life was a gift she left us. This is her speaking her truth instead of others speaking it for her. There are just parts in the book that I feel should be out there, especially the lack of good mental health help. It's not common knowledge that Dr. Phil exploited her. He didn't only not help her but hurt her further. I just feel strongly about that needing to be out there.
This book breaks my heart. I read it on pdf and now I am listening the audio book and I got the same feelings, this provokes me the same than when I read it for the first time! Her beautiful voice, sounds soft, kind and tired 💔 I miss her a lot, I was a big fan of my lovely Sinéad.
Her mother was definitely a monster but what was the dad doing all that time!? like I understand that Sinead wanted to live with her mother when she was little... but like... THATS when you choose to respect a child's wishes??
I need to go back and listen to parts about her father. It sounds to me like there is something missing there. I know Sinead's mother told Sinead that her father didn't care about her but I think the truth was that she was actually forbidding the father to see her. I believe there was a hard court battle. I believe the father fought in court for years to get custody of all the children. In some news articles I've read that Sinead makes references stating she had "abusive parents" not just a parent. However, I have not seen her ever speak about her father in a negative way in interviews.

As for her Dad, I remember she said in an interview that he was an alcoholic and psychologically abusive. So, she suffered abuse from both her parents, albeit much worse abuse at the hands of her Mother.
@@filmneye Thank you. I've been so busy researching so much about the abuse she suffered at mental health facility/facilities in the past decade. That's the abuse that is not talked about and no one asks about.
@@HearMyWords that's interesting, I had the feeling there was something missing or not said about her father as well. She did mention she had 'abusive parents' but somehow her brother quickly came to her dad's defence and it felt as if she didn't want to push against her brother's portrayal of their father. But what if Sinead's experience with her father was different than her brother's experience. Her mother also told Sinead that her father left because of her. And then the mother attacking Sinead's reproductive organs...well, it all just felt like the important bits are left out.

@@TheTilly65 Sadly, I don't have a record collection anymore because I lost everything I had in a flood in 2016. I had six of her albums. I have downloaded all available though. I've always loved a variety of different kinds of music so Sinead is just perfect for me with all the types of music she came out with. Nobody I knew really liked "Am I Not Your Girl." I love that album. As you can see, one of my playlists is 30s and 40s music. I've always loved Bob Marley so I also like her Rastafarian album, Throw Down Your Arms. I felt a little dumb the other day because I didn't know Marcus Garvey was actually a remake until recently. Of course, I love the classics - The Lion and the Cobra, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got and Universal Mother. I am just now discovering Theology and I adore it. Lately, I've been enjoying watching live performances on YT of her doing cover songs like John Lennon's Mind Games and Pink Floyd's Mother. I had never heard the song "Tears From the Moon" with the band Conjure One until a few days ago. I absolutely adore it. Sorry I wrote a book here. LOL What about you?

I just did some research about the children's home you were raised in. I can't imagine the pain and trauma you went through. Sinead touched so many lives and gave us someone to relate to, especially females. As a huge Beatles fan, I am honored to have a comment from Liverpool! ❤
I don't know but if you come up with one, let me know. I'm very disheartened that no one is asking these important questions. They only focus on her childhood trauma. If I knew then what I know now, I would have uploaded that part of the book instead of the first part.

That’s kind of you dear :) And about the audio book, I haven’t found any site that provide me a purchase of the audio book without any personal credit card. So, I guess sinead wants me to read her written words, although my own preference is to hear her story by her own voice. 😊✨
