Just heard about this guy and how he didn't make Rolling Stones 250 best guitarist list. Well, his finger tips can do anything on that guitar. Must realize that this is jazz. Not many hooks there for the ear to latch on to, or to remember the next day. Seems like a hodge podge of fast fingering without much connection between this and that. Like pieces of an incompleted puzzle. Maybe more tension and release would alleviate the excessive running. One thing though, I'm glad there are no keyboards up there with him. Al DiMeola's works are drenched in keyboards. I guess the OLD guitar adage applies here as well as ever, and that is "Faster is Better". Seems like a real nice guy. Always loved the "octaves" playing, no matter who.
I know Guthrie is truly outstanding and a master of his craft, but dear lord everyone else is so fucking tight too, the rhythm guitar, bass, drums, everything are so in tuned with one another. That demonstration at the beginning just shows the chemistry between these master class musicians
The vast wealth of endless experience across cultures and styles---that bass player was a beast first song. Always keep your eye on the journey and trek---the money, adoration, and love is secondary and comes in time. Be sure to warsh your hands
